You wouldn't want the stepchild involved in testing. She's too "picky".

It would be an even longer ordeal than we're seeing with @acemastr

Tackle the hardest problem first and the rest is cake!

I’m not in near as big of rush for 1.05 as those slushbox guys. 1.04r has been good for me

@OVTune I’d be up for a tester, having possibly the heaviest Taco w all options loaded FWCamper, sliders, ft bumper w winch oversized tires and more. Also headed east and in Nebraska atm, not sure if the dyno would be effected by my weight?

    Edit:Also running straight up 04B13

On a more serious note, it's really up to driver preference at this point, you would think, because @MOC221_ and I are both running 04B13 and 1.04R 91oct. The only difference is that his is a 2016 and mine is a 17, and we went from 04B10 and 04B12 to 04B13, respectively. That initial ECU version shouldn't matter since we now have the same one though.

Maybe @Shellshock is right. Them Pros are just a different breed apart from the rest :D:rofl: the real untold secret of it all lol

You would think, but in fact I have undesirable stuff happening on 1.04R 91. It's just more of the same, stuttering when not up to temp and throttle weirdness. There's a very noticeable delay in power delivery when getting back into the throttle after an upshift (almost as bad as factory). Then there's the power level itself - I don't want to say the power is down compared to 1.04A 91, but rather I can't access it  (actually, the power is down). It just doesn't have it.
Sorry if this doesn't fit everyone else's experience, but hey - nothing new here. Stepchild.

For anyone not in the know, my truck has had issues with driveability right from the factory. 1.04A91 was definitely the best file, but I had some knock.

My 18 has the same issues on 1.04R. 1.04A was great.

The 04B13 stock tune has driven better than any OVTune I have run yet. Hard to say I'm optimistic about 1.05. I will also say I could barely notice any power increase with the previous 91 files but I started at 1.04 which seems to be where that huge power increase started to fade.

Your pro didn’t come with the TRD intake? I thought they all did. You better go complain!

For smoothness and all around driveability I'd have to agree. 04B13 is damn good for a Toyota file, and if we're being honest, a lot of M/T drivers would not be running a tune if the damn trucks shipped with it. I did have some weirdness poking through the more miles I put on it though, in that the ruh ruh ruh bucking when shifting into second started to come back. My throttle dulled a bit too, but that has happened on EVERY file.

Where I disagree is WRT power. 1.03B was the first time I felt that mid range bump, the truck drove effortlessly. It seemed to remain mostly the same on 1.03C, the major difference being throttle response and tip in. Unfortunately, I had the stutters bad on those two files.
When 1.04A was released, the power was there and the stutters were gone. All that remained was knock. Just my 0.02

Anyway, if I knew for sure that 1.05 was weeks rather than days away, I'd flash back to 04B13. It's just a better drive for me and my truck.
