Anything going on this weekend?

 

Blue Angels at the Minden airshow. I gotta be down there most of the day tomorrow. If anyone is down there, stop by the Navy virtual reality trailer (giant semi-trailer) and say hi.

 

Went on a hwy 89 lake tour this weekend. The lakes were all half empty and it was cold but still a nice trip. I think we hit 12 lakes total.

 

We were just coming back from Tepui Fest in Hollister on 50 and were able to see to the Blue Angels as we were dropping down off the mountain into Carson City. Always impressed by those guys, balls of depleted uranium, Go Navy!

 

Had to chauffeur them around on Friday to a couple of high schools. Friendly group of people and they do well with their audiences and the oddball questions the high schoolers throw at them hahah

 

That doesn't sound like a bad way to spend the day. I'm assuming they're all LT's with a CMDR in charge?

 

Couple Marine Majors and captains in the mix as well. They also had a few enlisted marines as maintainers as well.

 

Met up with a great group of riders yesterday for a great trip thru Dog Valley and beyond. We also went to the lookout tower on Sardine Peak (available as a rental & occupied), the active lookout station on Babbit Peak (where we were invited to come up & in by the Ranger on duty), down to Stampede Reservoir & back.
Started with a dozen, but one never got off the trailer (loose clutch housing problem). We dropped to 10 shortly into the tip at the Crystal Mine when one turned around with a slow oil leak onto a heat shield. On the way to Babbit Peak our lead got a big sidewall gash. The Plug Magician immediately sprang into action crating a plug that would have made Dr Frankenstein proud. Despite repeated additional patching & airing it wasn't going to hold. When it came time to head to Stampede our leader headed back with an escort. Under new leadership we headed on to Stampede before heading back to the staging area. I was even given the lead for the last leg since I was familiar with the area from my firewood cutting years.

I had a great time on a fun run with some great people & look forward to riding with them again.

Looks like a great run Randy! I've done a very similar route in my RZR with one of our friends, I need to get mine fixed now and start taking it out again before it gets too much colder. If you guys come out this way around Reno/Sparks on some more rides or out to Sand Mountain let me know, we're always looking for people to ride with.

 

That run was with the FB group.
We don't need to go all the way to Sand Mountain. I've got tons of trails in my front yard or I'd be glad to bring it your way to play.

Might not 'need' to go to sand mountain (I've got 100's of miles of area to ride right out of my Garage as well) but the dunes sure look fun to go hit for a day!

 

Has anyone had Dolan do the update on the transmission to fix "stumbling at open throttle"?

 

I wanna get my RTT mounted on my new trailer so I can play & camp there.
I want to do a raisable rack so I can lower it to park in garage & raise it to put Maverick on and/or camp.
I'm not spending $40 for an up to 4 day pass or $90 for a year pass until I can spend the night there.

 

Yeah I did a couple weeks ago. The service advisor acted dumb like he never heard of the issue but they ended up updating it without any hassle.

I wouldn’t go in just asking for the update. Tell them your truck is stumbling at WOT from a stop and it’s dangerous and tell them you heard there’s an update out to fix it.

 

Anyone going to the Ultra-4 races this weekend? I'll be in town for them.

 

Sand Mtn is pretty fun! Been out there a few times with my bike, quad, and truck. I'm always down for a trip out there.

Crazy I didn't bump into you guys yesterday. I did a big chunk of that area in the mule on my way back from camping.

 

Probably had to do with the fact that we weren't there yesterday. We went Saturday.

 

Well I'll be. I did go through DV on Saturday but it was early and I bee lined.
