Ah game glitches, so funny

 

Squeaky. And I need axle shims.
So this is weird. I bought aftermarket springs from SD springs. It turns out, they use a different size bushing than the oem springs. The energy suspension bushing fits perfectly snug without having to remove the outer sleeve.

 

Have you considered greaseable shackles?

 

They even has signs encouraging it at Costco.

Shackles arent the issue. Ive regreased them before. Still squeaked the minute I reassembled.

 

So, the bushing fits. But for some stupid reason, I cant get it in all the way with the stupid sleeve in. They fit fine, without the sleeve but decided they didnt like the sleeve when I put it in. I would leave it like this, but it wont fit between the spring hangers up front.

 

The black energy suspension bushings are less prone to squeaking because they have graphite in them

 

Cant hammer it in?
Or just cut it a little shorter

 

How do you get it back out?

 

Can you pry the spring hangars apart a little somehow? I know they're pretty beefy but if it's a matter of a couple MM's or so it might not be too hard to do. Otherwise grind/shave off a bit of the outer lip of the bushings maybe?

 

I just use a knock out and pop it out

 

just saw this photo...yeah it looks like those bushings are a bit too long if that's as far as they go into the eyes...might have to trim them

 

Thats alot of force to make it bigger

 

Could it be the leafs themselves? Some leaves squeak more than others as I’ve heard.

 

yeah I'm thinking he might have to trim the bushings after seeing the other photo...mine fit snug up against the eyes, they didn't stick out like his do. I used the Daystar bushings

 

I re-did my leafs with the All Pros for the same reason...the dreadful squeaking. Having greasable shackles/hangars helps with the greasable Daystar bushings but the Dakars were prone to squeaking from between the leafs, too. It's super annoying. My All Pros aren't dead silent but still way quieter than the Dakars were

 

Its cause they're in a diameter too small and when compressed cant expand outward now

 

I heard from the PO that the AllPro standard leafs I have squeaked significantly while on his truck. I haven’t heard any squeaking yet thus far. Maybe the greaseable shackles do help.
