I just got an off road, and the dealership installed some crappy tires just to put new ones on it.

I was considering new wheels and tires.
Should i consider 17"? if so would i use the same tire size, except in 17?
I am not made of money so price is a big consideration as well.
Should i keep the 16" and just get a little larger tire and buy better ones?

i dont plan on doing a lift.

really no advantage to getting 17 more for cosmetic look . Imo I stay with 16 and go for bigger tires plus they probably would be a cheaper route then buying new rims and tires .

I would keep the 16" and get bigger tires. Save money.

There a market for those existing rims. Cuts the cost. Or sell the whole tire and rim. That's what I did.
Switch the tpms to the new ones.

Incorrect. BFG KO2’s are not offered in C-rating in our upgraded size for 16’s. Only 17’s. Therefore you have to get E-rated tires which are heavier and tougher, but not necessary for 95% of daily drivers.

Cheapest route is adding say a 265 75 16 on stock rims. They’re just a little bigger than stock and won’t rub on the factory rims.
Lots more p rated option for 33s on 17s if you plan on lifting. 33s on 16s are almost all lt tires. I went with 16s and 265 75 16 falken wildpeaks and they were reasonable at $520 for the set of 4. They can supposedly be had cheaper if you wait for an eBay discount code.

Yes. Apparently for some reason they don’t have the c-rated in that size. If you find them please let me know. Multiple threads have talked about this issue plus my own searching as well. It sucks. That’s why I will probably end up going to 17’s. Many other have done the same for that reason.

Dude thank you! I posted the other day asking if I should stay 16 in or go 17 in and this is exactly what I needed to know! I have 16in Toyo MTs E load and I just don’t use them for their design and they attacked my MPG with a personal vengeance. I finally told my friend to order me the TRD 4R wheels and K02’s, that really makes me feel I did the right move!

    Thanks all.
Yep, the wheel swap would be cosmetic.
Probably just stick with the stock wheels.
Which wild peaks are you using? The A/T3W?

I have stock sized Wildpeaks on my truck, they are quite impressive, especially for the price.

Tire sizes are mm in tread width/% of tire diameter that is sidewall/ inches in wheel diameter

A 265/70/17 is not the same size as a 265/70/16.

There is a tire size calculator that will tell you the diameter of each tire size so you can get a same diameter tire in a 17” rim.

If you just drive your truck as a daily driver and don’t get into modding your vehicle changing wheel size really serves no point. I think its better to go 16” wheels than 17”. The more tire you have the less likely a pothole is to cause a flat and a better ride.

See if you can find some. I’ve seen multiple threads about it and I’ve done plenty of searching. If you find some let me know. Even on BFG’s website they are nowhere to be found.
