I honestly wasn't expecting to pick one up this soon, or quickly. Lol I had the idea of a cheap commuter.. but was thinking it might be a while out still. After this last year of maintenance on the Taco, I really wanted to keep the miles and wear down on it. I was just browsing Craigslist one day, admiring mini trucks, dreaming of having one and building it up some day, and came across this one. Fell in love instantly. I'm the 3rd owner. Previous guy started restoring it/modding it. Original paint, stock original motor, dropped about 3/3 (soon to be 3/4). Another matching set of wheels (like the ones on the rear) are already at a local shop getting refinished and painted. Have always loved minitrucks and appreciated the builds, so it's my turn!

Thanks man! Definitely found a hidden treasure.

For real.. I even have the original owners manual, receipts, documentation, etc. Has A/C, power steering. Needs a little carb tune up, but still cruises great. I've put hundreds of miles one it already with no issues. 192k

Even has the stock vinyl floor! I miss my 88.
The biggest thing it needed was a 5th gear with cruise control coming in second.
SoCal to Washington was a long one day trip with no cruise.

The clutch master will leak as will the oil pump. Simple oring to reseal the pump.

Yeah! And it's in fairly good shape still. I plan to switch it and the dash cover to black carpet tho during my resto-mod process. Have some ideas for it already. Definitely leaving the original patina'd paint though. It's even glossy still

Must be nice to have stuff like that. Here in Maine they are all rusted. That’s a unicorn around here. Honestly u can bring that to Maine and Probly sell it for way more. Anytime there’s a nice old toyota from az or somewhere with no rust. They are big$$ and sell fast

Kind of a dumb question. What part is removed for s/c belt replacement?

The tensioner, although I only loosened the mounting bolts and pulled one bolt fully out to work the belt through. So the tensioner was in place loosely.

Be sure to look the tensioner over for cracks or signs of stress while you're at it.

It looks like its the same tensioner, but I'll know for sure tomorrow when my order arrives.
