Yeah that is crazy. I bought mine in March of 2017 at MSRP. But if I ever sell it I am going to list it in California.

Unless of course you want the storage space and not the sub.

You know I didn’t think of that. I do like that space and use it all the time.

Me too. But now that is gone on the Pro, and all premium package Sports, OR, and LTD.

What sucks even more is it looks like the left (driverside) bed pocket/cubbie is no more which eliminates even more storage!

This was addressed a few posts up... Technically they started producing the 2017 in July of 2016. It was never called a 2016 but it was definitely built in 2016.

I just ordered a 2019 and there have already been 2019s made/delivered... but it is still 2018.

It’s not $10k extra and same can be said for OR. You can build a SR5 into a more capable vehicle for less. This has been hashed out over and over again on this forum.

You gave my reasoning in your question. You can love Tacomas and just not have the time or inclination to mod it. I added Kicker speakers and a KB Voodoo rack. Nothing more.

    Stock resale doesn't hurt either.

    Cheers!

Ehhhh I looked at SR5 with a 4cyl manual it was no where near 10k less than my Offroad. I paid 32.5k for my OR, you can’t build an SR5 for the price difference no freaking way... I went with an Auto for all the crawl control/ Landcruiser Offroad systems it’s not possible to make an SR5 an OR....

Though a simple V6 SR5 and add air lockers... yeah you can definitely do that.

I was regecting your claim, 10k is not the difference between pro and OR all things being equal, that had nothing to do with OR vs SR5 price. Add front and rear lockers to an SR5 and you have a more capable truck off-road than an OR or Pro, and a lot cheaper, that was my point. Crawl is nothing compared to being able to lock the front and rear. Now if you want to get into all the creature comforts, like push button start / headunit / sliding rear window / dual AC etc between the SR5 and OR, then you also need to add all that shit up on the pro vs OR. You can’t add all the pro crap to an OR and come out cheaper. That’s the whole point.
If you want to make the argument that you can build something better off-road for cheaper, then I agree you can with the SR5. But to state that with the OR, it then comes down to the creature comforts you personally prefer.

You had asked about why Pro, I can’t talk for the OP. But in 2017, it came down to suspension, leather, no sunroof but tech package, wheels & grill for me. And no, you can’t build that spec OR for cheaper than the Pro. (Btw I won’t do seat covers). I don’t really care about the color, front and rear lights / skoop / fogs and all the other small difference. Now in 2018 with leather option, I might have been swayed to get an OR and change out suspension, wheels & grill. In 2019 probably not a pro due to sunroof.

In 2017 MSRP on an OR specs with as close as you could get to the pro was ~39.5k. I don’t think your 32.5k OR has the same spec, if it does, you got one hell of a deal, if it’s not, then $10 is not the “street price” difference all things being equal. Just because you and I might thing JBL is shit, someone else may not, so you have to weigh up all those options when making these kinda comparisons. Which is why base SR5 will always be the Best Buy if you want to build the most off-road capable vehicle from a Tacoma.

There is a voodoo pro at Norton in Tulsa, no snorkel $48k. They also have a cavalry pro sitting outside.

When I bought my 2018 TRD OR, it was more than 10k less than a PRO. Now it’s not a fair comparison as mine does not have the premium package. But I did negotiate on a TRD Off Road with premium and tech, actually more features than a pro since it had leather, moonroof and JBL, they were at 36500 and the pro they wanted 46k and wouldn’t drop the price at all. So going off MSRP only works if people are paying MSRP for both, which is stupid. Pros go for MSRP and OR’s go for less, so yes 10k less is more than fair to say.

I honestly think a 10K difference is pretty accurate/realistic as far as the gap between a TRD Pro and TRD Offroad. If it were MSRP vs MSRP then no it is not 10K, but in the real world that isn't what buying vehicles comes down to.

    2016-2019 wheels didn't change.
    (fixed it)
since the 2017 model year PRO was released in 2016 to the 2019 model year released in 2018 the wheels didn't change.
    (fixed it again)
The wheels on the 3rd Gen Pros haven't changed
