Basically this, plus the Crawl Control and locking diff drew me in as I also have an interest in offroading. From my research I learned a locking diff is pretty damn good to have for an offroad rig. Plus I’ve heard from numerous people that you can’t go wrong with a Toyota. Pulled the trigger 3 weeks ago, glad I did.

Blame the Hawaii guys, 4 trips to the islands in the last few years and the shear taco overload there got my mind spinning again. Other than that, style reliability, resale value, and it is a truck that gets me to some fairly remote trailheads while I hike the AZ Trail over the next 10-12 months.

My wife made me. Actually that isn't it. We had been looking at getting a vehicle because ours were getting up there in miles. My wife wanted a crosstrek and then we started thinking a truck may be more useful and fit our lifestyle a bit better. It would also allow us to get rid of our jeep but still do mild offroading. We test drove the inferno SR5 4x4 and even though we weren't planning on buying a vehicle for several months my wife, who usually takes months to make decisions, decided she wanted that truck and we bought it 3 days later.

5 months later and we are loving it.

I had always wanted a truck. Always had cars and wasn't really in the market to get one until someone rear ended my corolla. So this lead me to buy my taco.

Camaro wasn’t going to do well in the winter and the kids didn’t fit in the back at all. The f350 gets terrible mileage so I wanted a midsize truck.
Traded the Camaro in on the Tacoma. Still have the big truck for towing the camper.

    I like Toyotas. This is my third, I had two 4th gen 4runners before this. A 2003 and 2006, both v6 4x4.

This time around I wanted a truck and a manual transmission. So far I’m loving the Tacoma! It’s a great size and fun to drive with the 6mt.

I had my first carpentry job and my fwd manual jeep patriot wasnt the most convenient for hauling 4x8 sheets and trim.

Needed a truck and wanted a manual. Originally I wanted a 2nd gen but they are hard to find in MN and are incredibly expensive, even with high miles.

Test drove a manual and hated the rubbery feel, ended up with the auto OR.

Having my first new truck paid off at 22 years old is a pretty big achievement for me too!

Had a full-size and didn’t need it. Looked at Colorado & Canyons(came out of a ‘15 Silverado LTZ Texas Edition) but ended up getting a better deal at the Toyota dealership down the road. Plus, once I drove the manual I knew I had to have it.
