Changing the tailgate lock cylinder

    Not real happy about using the key imbedded in the key fob. It was pouring rain ,key and me soaked ,and was not happy shoving the wet key back into the expensive fob. Think it’s worth having the cylinder changed to a “ normal “ key?

    Paying someone to install the Pop & Lock would be a much better solution than paying someone to replace the lock cylinder.

    Or, you could probably get a conventional key cut to fit the existing cylinder.

    Pop & Lock is probably the most convenient choice long term.

    Couldn't you just have a normal key cut to use as your tailgate key? I'm sure the dealer or a locksmith could cut that type of key.

    My 2018 came with a conventional key, I’m heading towards the pop n lock solution.

    Locksmith wanted $45 to make a key , only option was with the same “top” as the fob key. Passed

    I got 2 fobs (with a key inside) and also a normal key to open the driver door, glove compartment and tail gate lock.
    I thought it was normal.
