A/C blowing out of defrost vents - Condensation/fogging

That is true. However, I am in FL and do not have the problem that OP has. IF it was just a humidity thing than it would be in every Tacoma sold from Daytona to the Keys. I can assure you that is not the case. There are a lot of Tacos rolling the streets in my area.

I would guess it is a mix door malfunction, split in the plastic ducts themselves, possibly a missing "gasket" on the mix door not allowing a sufficient seal, or something that has fallen into the ducts blocking the mix door from doing what it should.

 

Based on my original response, I stand by my statement. Row 1 says ac is on when auto is on. Row 3 says foot/defroster vents are on when auto is on.

 

Yes, and every car/truck I’ve owned including Toyota, has never done this. But my Tacoma does. Nuff said.

Sorry for the late update guys. I had a toyota field tech specialist come visit my local dealership. I had him check out 3 issues. A/C windshield condensate, 25-15 coming to stop rumble strip and what software my truck has.

Well no luck with the windshield condensate. He basically said there's nothing they can do to fix it. No TSBs on it, No revised parts and the Tech said he owns a 18' SR5 that does the same thing. I also showed him that airflow comes from defroster with a piece of toilet paper. He said it will be documented and it's possible they might have a fix for it in the future. So basically I just have to deal with it.

It only happens in the Morning and sometimes at night (High humidity). In the afternoon it's okay.
I was thinking maybe doing a light tint on the windshield would help it because then the air would blow on the tint instead of directly on the inside glass???
I also seen on the 6th gen Camaro forums are reporting the same exact thing. A lot of them use a foam rubber and cut it to the shape of the defrost vents to block the direct air hitting the windshield.

They seem to have fixed the vibration coming to a stop. What ended up happening is the tech took measurements of the axle flange/brake drum and pinion angles and discovered they were both out of factory spec. They ended up replacing the driveshaft, both rear axles (TSB on this), rear leaf springs (TSB on this) and I believe the rear drums.

The tech hooked up his computer to the truck and it does have the latest software. So if I want better shifting, throttle response. Either need to do a ovtune or shift sense pro.

I also have two other Issues that will post in another thread.
1. From a stop flooring it, I'm getting a shudder/vibration in the floor board and in the steering wheel when it shifts thru 1 to 2 or might be 2 to 3. You can also feel it during normal acceleration just not as noticeable.

2. Truck shakes when showing down when applying the brakes. It only happens here and there. Maybe brake rotors? Lug nuts improperly torque? Not sure...

I love the features and the look of these 3rd gen Tacoma's but man it's far from perfect...

More people with same problem and as you can see it does not matter if auto or manual. If it is set to the face only function it should not be blowing out of "E". This is what the OP is trying to say.

 

Found this thread from 5 years ago. I've had this problem on my 2012 for at least a couple of years now. I'm sick of it again and still looking for a fix to this problem. Has anyone found anything out? I'm leaning to a "mode actuator" problem but would rather not spend that money if dont have to.

 

I agree it is annoying and an engineering fail.
The armchair engineers here with hot/cold condensation are correct but in theory IF the blend doors were working as intended the condo on the windshield would not be there.
My other current vehicles do not do this.
Engineering...isnt there a building in NYC currently leaning?? And this is just a simple open/close door...
