You mentioned crawl control, and that could maybe be considered. But that still doesn’t cover the cost. Bad ass headlights? We’re talking about a significant amount of money here. And heated seats in general, as far as I’m concerned (it’s just me) are an embarrassment. We are still talking about a pickup truck, right? Blind spots and parking assist? Bro. Get a Kia Soul.

You right haha! Although I don’t regret getting my off-road and having that stuff is nice, but I got a killer deal so. But supply and demand, they wouldn’t make it if people didn’t buy it.

Those are Tech and Prem packages above the cost of the TRD models.

That said, I saw value in my Sport for the ACLB V6 MT (non-Prem / non-Tech). I wish I had other choices, but . . .

As you SHOULDNT regret buying your off-road. It’s just bs that Toyota charged so much for one. It doesn’t take anything away from how awesome any config is.

Right. It is what it is, and I would have paid any cost for a new Toyota pickup. I just think Toyota went a little cheap, and the boys here didn’t get what a TRD should be (IMO)

True. To get what the essence of TRD is these days, you have to pay for a Pro for a set of wheels, shocks, and a few other functional bits, but only in a DCSB config with a big sticker. I couldn't wrap my mind around that even if offered in an ACLB.

And the pro... I totally got it with that amazing cement color. But now base models come in cement. Total shaft to the pro owners, IMO. And if I were to further bitch and moan about TRD, I’d say the pro should have been factory LT from the get go, to represent the off road heritage that Toyota’s are known for.

You know. More PRO, like the name suggests.

Agree on the color creep. Kind of odd to dilute a bit of resale. An LT Pro would have been juicy. Imagine the swagger with that as a RCLB? TRD could stand for something there.

BTW, I felt the TRD stickers were not good looking and didn't really stand for anything on my Taco. They were gone early on.

For the record, the Raptor will cost a lot more than the PRO.

I can actually imagine a regular cab LT stanced 3rd gen, and it looks like a desert sender. I just wish TRD could get a little more serious than creature comforts and a couple upgrades. Like you said, it would stand for something. People would be all like “yo I saw a TRD at bed bath and beyond, it was so raaaaad”

I have No Problems with MY Tacoma TRD Pro it does exactly what I expected it to do it does get up and go it does get great MPG, it does tow my boat well I have owned a Tacoma first Gen with the Trd super charger and Yep that did make a different running Tacoma Truck however for the Money those things did cost if they offered it today for MY Tacoma Pro I would just skip the page and keep going the way the Truck is because the Improvement just don't match the cost.

Also to the comments about the TRD Pro "well it is just a OR with better suspension" Yeah OK then why do I see so much "oh I want the Pro hood" or "Oh I want a Pro grill" and "Oh I want the Pro Fog lights" then well I can do the suspension better for less OK yes if that is what suits your needs But ..... Toyota is not going to warranty your added on Suspension when it busts up and it sure is hard to get the private shop to warranty the labor to remove the busted parts even if the manufacture warranties the parts ....... Just saying.....

    Well I think it’s a good idea.
Picture this...Toyota uses the OV tune and you keep your warranty.
The OV tune is advertised as passes Toyota federal emissions.

Ford did this with Cobb Tuning.

IMO the (poor) calibrations that are from Toyota are not a product of trying to meet MPG although that’s part of it.
They did not spend enough time perfecting the calibrations. More R&D=$

Also Matt with OV has stated Toyota is not utilizing all engine control sensors and instead using predetermined maps.
I’m not sure if that’s a cost cutting measure or just corporate stupidity.

Actually, Toyota warranties those OEM parts even if they’re installed on an SR, so..

People want certain qualities that other configs have, so they install them. Just because the pro has them, doesn’t change the facts... not a lot of people want to pay pro prices for cosmetic stuff, they’ll just DIY it. Which brings me to my point, the PRO should be such a factory build that it shouldn’t be able to be replicated (reenforced chassis, suspension, travel geo) it should have proprietary parts. It doesn’t, and that’s a bummer.

and I agree with some of that however when I did my FJ Cruiser and I am using the cost of that work I did myself as comparison and when I went and priced out everything that I wanted in the suspension for a OR the cost was right up there close to what the Pro Cost plus I yet would have to do the work and if a component went bad (Toyota certainly not warrantying it) I will have to do the labor where ever it happens to be and all the leg work.

Yes it would be awesome if they did a factory build that it shouldn’t be able to be replicated but really who does something like that? if they did it would be reaching into the $60K range if not more.
