I hate to say it but going to the dealer to bargain for a monthly payment is the worst thing you can do.

"Sure we can do $550...for 120 months."

    Too few to list.
Bottom line, the dealerships are in the business to make money. Most bait advertise to get customers in. Just the way it works. Come informed and prepared.

Also, If you are buying your vehicle with cash, And by cash I mean not financing with the dealership never tell them that up front. Some people think if they say I'm buying with cash that they will get a better price. NOPE. When they say are you financing this with us you play dumb and say yes. Then once you have the best price that you want wait until you are with the finance guy and he says ok lets run your credit. You then say, No I'm paying cash. And again by cash I mean a check from another bank or credit union. Unless you want to pay with green:spending:

There are 2 types of shoppers to car dealers. Educated and non. By educated I mean you did your homework. Those people dealers do not like. The people that come in and know nothing about the car they are looking at is a dealers wet dream.

    Stock and staying that way
Since I live in a large metro area (DFW), I choose the salesperson and dealer I want to do business with. The next dealer will have the same vehicles, but not always the same quality of salespeople. The Toyota dealer closest to me was shitty, so I went to one a little further away that was a lot better to deal with.

Yup do this and then put them on Yelp. Salespeople hate when you put them on blast on Yelp, especially dealerships.

It's a business and people on a whole are willing to lie if it benefits them financially. It's just something we all have to accept until we evolve past greed unfortunately. However it doesn't excuse dishonesty... just explains it.

Sad thing is it's our own responsibility to make sure we don't get scammed. Be prepared! The strongest negotiating position is being willing to walk away

Negotiating based on payment is basically giving the dealership a blank check with your name signed.

Nah, we got it down to 550 for 4 years as compared to 800 for 4 years. That’s how much the mark the price up so as much as they hate going that low, they’re still not going to take a hit on the car

My mother is that way. I am sure her local dealer loves her.

She bought a Tundra this summer for "long trips" then a Camry a few weeks ago for her "city driving". She knows nothing about cars, gets all the extras they sell, and pays in green cash.
    :annoyed:

Edit: And yes...my mom has a bigger truck than I do.:anonymous:

Everything was the same except for the monthly payment, let me put it that way. Interest rate and length of payments included

Internet sales department. Negotiate from your couch and take a quote in the dealership. Did it when I got my truck and will never negotiate on the floor of a dealership again

Tell me about it, it’s insane
Edit: my Tacoma brand new was 42k, people have been saying that they got the exact same truck for 38k and we’re complaining how it was marked up too much
