Blah blah blah... cracked cage so on and so fourth, same as the others... dealer said they have no ETA on parts, heres a temp fix that might help someone else too. I put a screw on the flat side of the spindle. It spins a little off balance but works fine for now

EDIT: I ended up putting a smaller allen set-screw instead after, much lighter

It's all plastic... what about an epoxy while you're waiting for parts?

Yeah, congrats. With a screw. I was curious if you thought an epoxy would work, but since you wanna be THAT way.

    To many to list
I was at Toyota yesterday and they told there is a recall on the blower FYI. They had to order the part.

yes they told me that too, and saw in another post. thats why i wanted to share a quick fix

the screw holds on the flat part of the motor spindle. the inside of these cages wears smooth causing it to lose grip. luckily you haven't had this issue, epoxy would only help the exterior crack. not trying to be THAT guy just didn't want to type all the details out

Going into the dealership today about this exact problem. Hopefully they have the part. Gonna try and sneak a TSB update in there as well lol.

Good luck with them having it in stock, I just had to drive almost two weeks in 90+ degree weather with no a/c while waiting for mine to come in. Finally taking it in tonight to get it done.

There maybe a repair recall campaign to replace the blower motor assembly on your truck, check with your dealer.
It appears that some motors may have too large shaft diameter putting a strain on the plastic fan cage. I have a '16 no issues so far and I use the heck out it.

A new fan assembly should permanently fix the issue.

There is. At the dealer now and there is a brand new advisory for the AC Fan.

Unknown lift, maybe 2" I don't know how to ID it, and would rather set it back to stock.
Good job on the temp repair. It's also good that Toyota has launched a Service Campaign on the faulty fan now, so I'm expecting letters to get sent out to owners. Otherwise, take yours in to at least get on the list. The Service campaign covers vehicles made since Early June of '16 to late August '17 but specifies that it is for vehicles w manual HVAC controls, not for auto HVAC controls, though I am sure that there are auto HVAC owners who have experienced failures. So long as you're inside warranty parameters you should be covered on a repair, but of course no one can be certain they have been upgraded as the old and upgraded fan has the same identical part number.
For those who end up having to do a fix on their own for whatever reasons, you can also tighten a small hose clamp on or a wire, but other threads have demonstrated that the crack starts at the base of the plastic fan part and moves upwards, rather than starting at the tip and working down towards the motor. Other options:

It would be better to get a wire around the base though, where the gussets are, but this worked for me until I got mine replaced--before the safety campaign, so I'm sure I'll be going back in for the upgraded part.

Seems unusual to have to wait that long. It's not like Kailua-Kona is on the dark side of the moon, and the Big Island Toyota dealership is there. Maybe a few gentle phone calls to your service advisor to refresh their memory on this. Take in copy of the Service Bulletin I posted up above. They're not looking for the same old part, it's a new part.
You have the manual HVAC control? Truck within the specified production dates on the bulletin?

Still seems odd that it is only for the Fans on Manual Climate Controls.

I went it initially in july to get it checked up and got the exact diagnosis explained in the thread, cracked AC fan. Since then called back 2 or 3 times and ive got the "no estimated arrival of your parts" I do have the manual hvac and my trucks a 2017. When trying to contact toyota directly i get redirected to servco and proceed to just end the call because im not sure how much servco will be able to do for me being on the BI and dealing with big island toyota. Maybe cause i didnt buy my truck AT the toyota dealer here in kona im getting the run around? Thats the only speculation i have because it is definitely crazy for me to be waiting 3 or 4 months considering the times some others on the forum have waited

IMO it's the instant torque on the fan when left on high while starting up whereas the auto controls "ramp up" to speed. Still running on a repaired / epoxied fan since 7/2 but will soon visit the dealer to get the replacement and clear the recall / service campaign.

Well, HI is on a different path with Toyota. While on the mainland and AK, Toyota USA is your connection, I think actually it's called Toyota North America. Here in HI, we're treated by Toyota USA as a foreign country and are not recognized by them. Our unique situation is SERVCO, which is connected to Japan. How this situation can be so, I'm not sure. I'm also not sure how to contact SERVCO as an organization since I haven't had to go this route. I'm pretty sure that there will be some HI issues with the Service Campaign on the "upgraded" blower units as well. I have yet to receive a letter regarding this campaign, and do not know if it will ever come. Of course if any HI 3rd gen owner gets a letter, I'd sure like to hear about it. Every other vehicle on the roads here, at least on Oahu, is a Tacoma. Maybe, just maybe, if you take in a copy of the service campaign document and show them that you're within the specifications and parameters of the bulletin, you can get them to order the part, and give you a receipt that shows the part is ordered for you, and is on the way and you're not just getting lip service.

I was in Kona for the Liliokulani canoe race recently, I am almost certain I saw your truck there. There can't be that many there in Kona like yours.
