I wonder if you'd still be in constant contact since you're lifted. If you'd be in constant contact though, I agree, I don't think I'd want that. One of the things I really liked about them was the stock leaf pack did most of the ride control until I really loaded it down.
The 1,500 lb version, in my opinion, was perfect for the F150. Keep in mind I also had the steel body and a cap so I had a much heavier vehicle. The 2,000 lb version is overkill and I have to believe would not ride as nice. The worst part about them, was that instant when your stock leafs compressed on a big bump and first engaged the Sumo Springs. With a stiffer spring, that engagement point would be rougher, especially with a lighter vehicle. I read a lot of the reviews on the Sumo Springs before buying and, it seemed even the people who were towing and hauling very heavy with their F150s seemed to say the lighter version was more than sufficient.

I love renting. It's cheap and easy, just like my women.

    Morning all!

"NOt A tuRnARouND" in red spray paint

Agreed. Unless I'm just living somewhere short-term (like, less than a year) I'll never rent again if I can help it. Too much like pissing $$ down a hole.

"If you weren't invited, leave!" on a big sheet of plywood nailed to a tree.

It's funny because I can't imagine they'd get visitors anyway. I've had a total of three unexpected people show up to my house in a year and a half and I'm less rural than out there. One Jehovah's Witness, one town resident wanting my signature on a petition, and the fire department looking for donations.

We don't even get the Jehovah's witnesses any more. All I've had lately is a pair of Democratic grunt units (spaced about 3 weeks apart) sent out to kiss hands and shake babies for the local candidates. They weren't sent to discuss issues at all, though, because when I've asked them about where their candidate stands on certain topics I've gotten "uhhh...I think they support/oppose ______, but I'm not sure"

There's a Jehovah's witnesses church (Hall? Building?) about half a mile from my house. When we first moved after I saw it I figured we would get them all the time. But in the 4 years we've been there they have only come once, at least when someone was home.

We have one at the other end of my road in the next town over, so maybe 3-4 miles away. He's only been here once, didn't put together who he was until he started talking about horses symbolizing different things and told me it was all in some pamphlet.

Never had anyone from a political campaign show up.

It was stock with bigger tires. It actually wasn't the Ford's fault. Guy had an aux battery in the bed, and somehow it caught fire.

Nature has worked well with me to keep people out. The snowmobile club actually replaced two culverts this weekend and smoothed out the stuff right in front of us which had kept anyone from driving it the last month. Basically there are huge potholes, burms and rocks everywhere. The road has been abandoned for 15 years or more and is in the middle of a state forest basically. Lots of people use it as an off-road trail. The jeep was a younger kid who was contracted to do some deliveries, wasn't your standard ups. However, we have had two 18 wheelers try the road since I've lived here. Neither made it, both required someone to come pull them out and popped at least a couple tires.

Let me know and we can figure something out! When I get a garage set up it would be much better, but not sure if that's happening for another year or two. Thinking about putting up a portable carport type thing until then though to keep some things covered. @Chasespeed I would think it'd be pretty family friendly, most of the guys on here seem to have families themselves. There are a couple nice rooms off the main area that they could hang if your daughter got tired, or people wern't so great at watching their language!

We just got our pole installed Monday actually. Would need to install a mailbox now I guess! I also won't be financing those parts individually, they would be wrapped up in a overall loan or paid for up front. So maybe I won't waste too much time on it.

There is a guy 5 minutes from me that literally has a sign made of plywood nailed to a tree and it says "If you didn't call ahead, leave". I had 5 cars turn around in my driveway Sunday. I frequently have to walk out of my house and confront people trying to just drive on up, or better yet walk their dogs while driving their car because they are too lazy to walk themselves...and can't read the 20 POSTED signs I have lining my driveway. I'd say once or twice a day we have some type of idiot try to come up here. Someone who grew up here told me that during the summers the local kids would drive their 4wheelers up the road, go through the woods and swim in our pond. We get trespassed regularly. Even had people come cut down our cherry trees and steel our wood fence right out of the ground.
People joke about this stuff and funny things rural people do, but these are my neighbors and it's my daily life :bananadance::bananadance:

I was pleased with how my Ram handled the offroading sessions I did with it this summer. If I hadn't had a plow frame on the front I'd have had an easier time, but even with it I didn't do too much dirt scooping. The heavier components, weight for traction, and better ground clearance can make 2500's ok for offroading, but you need to leave PLENTY of room.

You'd think that, but I didn't have to buy a Kubota last year, did I? Or a plow for my new Ram 2500... nope. You don't have to buy those either, but you wanted to, as I would if I owned a home. I don't buy the $500 in annuals that I used to buy every year, $200 in mums for the farmers porch, $300 for the hanger plants in spring... A lot of people think renting is throwing money away, but honestly, the majority of home owners in this country will have a mortgage payment long after retirement because of the way we lean on credit wayyyyyy too much and always want to buy more and better. But the thing I like the most is having completely fixed costs, unlike that of owning a home. I will never pay more than what I pay every month for my housing, but you might have a well pump to replace next month or something. Don't forget I don't pay property taxes and my insurance liability is way less. If you actually do the long math you would see it's not pi$$ing money down a hole at all, it can be smart financial management.

There's a road that connects Peru and Middlefield and I've run into 18-wheelers on that. It's not nearly as bad as your road, but it's still extremely narrow so I can't believe they go through there. An older lady died some years ago on that road. Middlefield plows the snow bank off to the side, so in a blizzard it's hard to tell that the road hasn't been plowed. I guess she got a mile or two in and got stuck, never made it out.

First person who talks to me about religion, especially at my house, will see me roll up my right sleeve and ask what they think of my tattoos. Nuff said.

In 1982 my parents bought a new house in Hingham, 2000 sq ft and an acre for about 150K. In 2004 I paid more for my 1200 sq ft of 70 year old house on half acre that needs a ton of work. Ridiculous.

That said it depends what you want/need. Like you said, you need space. Plus I'm sure owning is better because of the schooling for the little ones.

Re the meets, I know some bring the families. Hell, if I can keep my mouth G rated I'm sure anyone in this group can.
