They just released the trout into Accotink creek, caught one this morning before work. Unfortunately its all catch and release in that creek, not worth the ticket if you get caught with one you aren't supposed to have in my opinion.

I've only done spin rod fishing, id love to learn about fly fishing, it has a different sort of appeal, its fun to pull in a fish any way you can catch it though.

 

Yeah that’s all I’ve done too. I took a free fly fishing class at orvis and it the basic cast is super easy. I started getting into some other casts but ran out of time. It definitely has a different appeal though.

 

I've got a buddy who is a trout fishing guide, I'm sure he would teach me. I wouldn't have thought of going to orvis for a class.

Yeah i just stumbled upon it online and took it since it was free. The guys at the Arlington Orvis seemed super knowledgeable and you get some coupons for taking the class. Definitely a good way to spend 2 hours on a Saturday if you want to try it out.

 

IMO, it's the only way to "fly."

Once you hook a fish on a fly rod, you'll want to throw those spinning rods in the trash. It is definitively frustrating in the early stages of learning though.

Yeah a while ago you told me. I found his Insta and spent alot of time gawking over it. never say how he made it though. I might be tempted to try it sometime.
