For trout, not really, to be honest. I am not a big fan of stocked fish or brook trout, and that is all there really is in this area. They're fun but just not the same as a big native Brown. I admit I am a snob of sorts when it comes to fly fishing. Best fishing closest to here is in Tennessee. But, fishing the upper Potomac for small mouth bass is a ton of fun on the fly.

I've been targeting Snakeheads just because they seem like an awesome fight too. It's convenient to go for the stocked trout when the creek is about a mile from the house, worth it for me. I hooked into a few stripers near Mount Vernon a few months back.

Agreed! Catching a fish on a fly rod beats a spinning or baitcaster any day, IMO. That being said, I am pretty novice with a fly rod but have managed to catch some trout and smallmouth on a fly rod. One of these days I'll actually invest in a decent fly rod/reel combo.

Oh, it's definitely worth it for convenience, don't get me wrong there. I have some pretty good snake head and striper spots if you want to get out soon!

Do you have a kayak? I have an extra if not. They are helpful for targeting snake head but my striper spots can easily be fished from the shore. If your spot is down near Mt. Vernon I am sure you have fished "my" spot before as well. There aren't too many good spots for striper that far down.

I have been fly fishing for quite a while but, like everything else, there is always room to learn. I don't even want to think about what I have invested in my fly rods. Between that and the rest of my hunting and fishing tackle/equipment, I am sure I could've bought a nice used Tacoma by now!

We will make it happen soon. I was supposed to head back down to OBX/that way this month but haven't been able to.

I'm game for some fishing and beer/bullshit. Dont have a fly rod here and haven't done it in years but have plenty of spinning rods and bait casters. Need to respool two of them with better line though cus my kids messed it all up. That Orvis class seems cool and I think some one told me about it a while ago as well. Let me know I am close and need some more good spots. Mostly just shore fishing on post but I prefer rivers or streams if possible. Actually looking for a kayak right now to add to the fun any recommendations?

I’m definitely down for fishing and beers. I’ve wondered how the fishing is at that spot near the water at green ridge

I haven’t had much luck fishing in the Potomac (other than catfish) but maybe I haven’t been to the right spots
