Moab was a guided trip. We just had to show up with a truck.

Black Mountain represents first multi-day camping trip with Sandy where we're responsible for everything we need.

Anyone have a spare 53' semi trailer sitting around unused. Good Lord. We could do a 75 day trip to the Arctic circle with what she wants to take....and outfit 20 additional campers...

Enough battery lighting that we'll be recognizable from the flippin' international space station.

From ex military who had to pack all my "camping gear".....travel lite.

Still a great camp site! The access road is about the same as last year too.

So the BS and fluff about being paved up the mountain is actual BS and fluff?

Yeah man. Once you get to where the cabins are, that's it. Pavement ends there. It's been made really nice to the upper cabins but past that, you're on your own basically.

99.99% sure on that. Was there last July ~25 - ~29 and that's how it was then.

Trail going up to the main stuff/playground at the top of the mountain was pretty good, but Fall Crawl is this week so it's hard to tell what the buggy's and SXS' are going to do to it by the time we get there.

Also, on a previous post above about moving the date next year, from the end of September to before Fall Crawl (3rd weekend of October) the park/campgrounds are usually wide open and very well taken care off due to getting ready for one of their biggest events of the year.

I think that's what it was when we were there last year. Heard that it had changed and was paved "up the hill". Doesn't bother me, just isn't Focus friendly is all.

Ordering parts today and doing some post AOP wrenching. Hope to make it, nothing extreme just dependant on when my parts show up and getting time to work on it.

Was gravel past rest rooms this time last year. Pavement past cabins went in mid november. (After we were there) They (Harlan County Campground) advertized "all the way to campgrounds" .

Never fully understood why they need to pave any part of a 4wd park.... guess by the cabins to keep dust down....

Fall crawl THIS weekend. We've been there the week after fall crawl 4 years running. In the past it's been fairly calm then.

Harlan weather update. About the same as earlier, but they are now calling for light showers on Friday evening, around dark....over before day break. So dust won't be an issue on Saturday! No all day rains this year. It's become a TW meet tradition to get rained on at some point.

We will have our tent and 2 10' X 10' pop ups ready. They'll go up Thursday. There will be some shelter and a fire going before the Friday arrivals roll in. Temps still upper 50's to low 70's at day time. Low 40's at night.

2019 meet will be at the beginning of October. Already looking at dates.

9 days until the tents go up!
