I had a construction site in the dirt on the side of the house and I'd spend hours out there. I had a lake-dug a hole, lined it with a garbage bag and rocks and filled it with the hose. Went to the side of our road (gravel) and got piles of gravel to make roads for the trucks. It got so my buddies started joining in with their Tonkas. That lasted weeks and weeks. Smartphones don't even compare to the joy of kids getting lost in Tonka world:)

Man, I spent hours outside with my Tonka Toys just pushing dirt around.

That's great:) what do kids do outside nowadays anyway? Does he play with cars&trucks like we did? I know my stepson's little girl loves the outdoors too-playing ball with the dog, blowing bubbles stuff like that.

He played in the large planter out front of our apartment building. He started with bruder construction trucks, then moved on to building rock crawling course for his many remote control cars ( now all broken) and his hot wheel/matchbox and Tonkas (they make a hot wheel size now. Then he moved on to building forts and swing. Lately he was building a fort/sniper nest (nerf guns). It was ok when he was small, but we had to put a stop to it as he started dragging rebar, cardboard and wood from all over the neighborhood for his construction dreams.

Nope, I had two fights. 1. Beat that kid silly, so much he didn't show up to school for a week. He had 2 black eyes and could barely see and knock out 2 of his teeth. 2. One punch knocked out his tooth and both never spoke to me again.:D

I can remember two, both with existing friends. One when we got off the school bus on the way home in elementary school. Another in Jr. high with another friend. That one was literally a blood bath. A comment on late 70s fashion: if you are wearing white jeans and a white-and-brown velour shirt, and the other guy start with a surprise pop to the nose out of nowhere, and then you go fucking ballistic on his ass with everything you've got....those clothes will never be white again. Pretty sure the whole school was gathered around by the end of that one.

We had a new house being built next door,it was a vacant lot that was our playground. We had set up a WW2 battle with those little green army men, 2” tall apx. School got back in session so we had to leave the battlefield unattended. Came home from school only to find the contractor had backfilled the foundation. All soles were lost to the bulldozer, not a trace of the battlefield. Might be a archeological find some day, we were bummed.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
....^^^.... I had endless fire- fights with the little green plastic soldiers :infantry: too ...... many were buried in the back yard or decapitated with the lawnmower.

When I got older and richer (from my paper route) I invested in more war products ... ie. .. Tanks and Armor and Artillery.
