E Rated Tires

Anyone out there running E Rated tires on their Tacoma? Chime in with the good, bad, etc. How do they perform compared to stock?

 

my buddy has 285/75/16 Michelin LTX A/T2's on his taco and they are E rated. i have driven it myself and they ride a whole lot smoother than i expected giving they're 10 ply. granted i bet they are heavy as hell, that'd be the reason keeping me from running E rated tires.

 

Searching for pros and cons to running E Rated tires on the Taco....any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

 

Too late to change my mind....I bought the 265/75/16's for mine and they're E rated....getting them installed tomorrow. I threw them in the bed today and they are some HEAVY sob's....glad to hear they ride good. Anything has to be better than the crappy Dunlops that came on it!!

 

I run BFG ATs that are E rated. I lost 1 mpg. It is alot of unsprung weight. They ride fine. They will get you out of trouble too. They are 285/75/16. I have noticed they wear like iron. I guess this is due to the light weight of the taco compared to a full size truck.

 

Good to know...I went with the LTX AT2's, a little less aggressive, but I figure they'll last 75K or more??

 

I had Load E BFG's on my Dakota. Great tire..... However, your truck will ride like a dump truck with these E rated tires. Unless your hardcore off road its too much tire.

 

I have E rated, they are fine, there not any more extreme feeling on road

 

i don't have them on my Tacoma yet but I had some on my old Ranger and they were awesome. They rode like rocks but were great for offroading, they were tough as nails. I will get some for my truck when the stock tire wear out. I had some Yokahama Geolander's.

I run Hankook Dynapro MT's , they are well mannered on the road and quiet .

It does not ride like a dump truck .

I have E rated on a 04. When I pull off road I am not worried about glass and rocks. I noticed no loss in ride quality

 

yep, 285 duratracs. I think they're great. Especially when you have a lift and getting a flat tire would be a bitch the e-ply are practically unpenetrable

 

Hell, my Old Man had a Dakota. I thought all Dodge vehicles rode like dump trucks!!

CRAP!!! I have some 265/75/16 bfg all terrains and they are E rated tires... I have not installed them yet.

Did I mess up getting these? I sure hope not!

 

Keep in mind that the down side to load range E tires having thicker ply walls is that it is harder to get traction on the trails when aired down, which is why we stick to D's on beadlocks!
