I did the upgrade yesterday. Amazing sound. Well worth it. The only issue I had is disconnecting the connectors. Had to put a pair of pliers to pull them apart. Thanks for everything great m I did the upgrade yesterday. Amazing sound. Well worth it. The only issue I had is disconnecting the connectors. Had to put a pair of pliers to pull them apart. Just ordered the speakers! Thanks for the write up. Any advice on pulling away the trimming without the fancy tools?

Happy to help! I would say using something soft that won’t mar the plastic or wrapping flathead screw drivers with rags or something. Bare fingers are great too.

Wrap duct tape around the bottom of a screwdriver for protection

They have inexpensive plastic pry tools that you can buy, I also stuck 3x5 cards in before the pry tool as extra protection against damaging the edges.

Do it! Do it! Do it! Just finished swapping out the tweeters and I'm now happy to turn it up and cruise! The sound difference is enough to keep me from checking double-din stereo prices. It is much less muddy sounding. As previously said it definitely sounds like the low end response (punch) got better since the door speakers aren't waisting power on highs anymore.

Just did mine today!! Amazing difference!

Connectors were a pain, there wasn't much slack and couldn't turn them towards me at all and I didn't realize there was a clip on them. Quick Google search and realized that there was a clip I was off to the races!

I can't believe the difference these make! I had treble and mid maxed out before now I had to turn them down as the sound is much fuller and more crisp.

Will someone please place a big bright red bold disclaimer at the top of this thread:

THIS WILL NOT WORK ON JBL TECH/PREMIUM PACKAGE TACOS

    Thanks.

“Sounds” like a great upgrade for those who can get it though!

Just did the upgrade this weekend and as others have said, DO NOT WAIT. The sound is crisp and i couldnt believe how much just tweeters can change the game.
Next is the door speakers

Well if he has the JBL system then the Subaru Tweeters won't work.

I am not sure on that, but there is a section on here that is dedicated to stereo and sound, there should be something in there.
