If TRD still offered a supercharger, he might have made it... :burnrubber:

The Wife and I took a quick trip around the apline loop in American Fork Canyon. Should have taken the Tacoma as there were some offshoot roads I wanted to explore but the RAV handled some of the mud quite admirably.

Anyone doing a five tire rotation? I’m told that my Taco can only handle four TPMS sensors, and therefore can’t put one on the spare. Now I can’t read any of the tires. My fifth tire is on the truck.

    Normal?

The 2nd gens could do 5 tires; Not sure what the 3rd gens will handle. They don't even use the same freq's for the sensor data as the 2nd gens so you can't get 2nd gen takeoffs.

I have no idea why it wouldn’t be possible. Maybe just not talking to the right tech.

From what I remember of the 2nd gen stories of doing this, most techs were wrong, or had no friggin clue.

I’ll scout around and see if I can find a 3rd Gen thread I can post the question in. Someone out there has to know.

Can't give you a direct reference but I know I've seen that the 3rd gens can only have 4 TPMS sensors registered at a time, so if you want to do a 5-tire rotation the shop will have to re-program them every time.

That said, there's no reason you couldn't leave one in the spare tire, so at least they could be registered without having to remount the tire every time.

Thx, at least it confirms what I was told. Right now it’s just running as a spare (no sensor), but now my truck doesn’t see any sensors.

    Looks good.

Does anyone have a DCSB + camper shell and sleep in a back? I'm 6'. How miserable would it be? I'm debating between a camper shell or a bed rack + RTT.

I've done it. Some people can just sleep diagonal or curled up, but I can't sleep in there with the shell closed up. So I would always extend onto the tailgate. If the weather was bad, I used one of those tents that encloses the rear of the shell. Mine was kind of a pain to set up, it was made for a gmc envoy. If you have a drawer/shelf system in there, you can make a swing-up or add-on piece that makes the tailgate area the same height.

    Here's a thread with ideas: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/solutions-for-sleeping-in-short-bed-5ft.429253/

I did it once. It sucked if you aren't a bent up side sleeper. Bought a rack and RTT and never looked back.
