If you're in Memphis I can reccomend a great place to do your engine and related work. Specialize in toyota and lots of experience with the 22r. Dont think they'll do your suspension though, I could be wrong

Well it's a few hours haul for you, but the shop is Harris Quon Auto in Memphis. Me and some other guys on here have used them. I know the owners and several people who do/did work there. Great shop, honest work and pricing

Read his signature. He has a 4.7 case behind his stock 2.28
That's the setup I'm going with eventually, it rocks. 4runner currently has a single 4.7 case

    https://www.marlincrawler.com/transfer-case/line-ups/tacobox
you can do some reading on Marlin's website. They sell all the parts and kits to build these crawler units. Trail gear offers copy cats of most of their products too. You can buy a built crawl box unit or find your own tcase (80s top shift) and just buy the gears and adapter plate.
Slander and Snowy know more about these things than I do. They can probably help you a lot too

I noticed it involves changing the length of both DSs and cutting holes to make room for the sticks.. the logistics of that make my head hurt lol

You are correct on both of those. a driveshaft shop will redo both your shafts for you for probably around $350-400 (at least thats the quote I got from the ones here) and while youre at it you can get them made with thicker walls for protection.
    floorboard cutting is inevitable unfortunately

Thanks! It’ll definitely take out extra cab glass without an exo.

John passed, lots of body to hang on things. Mark passed in the 40 too, the drop in would have been interesting with a sub 100” wb.

High quality video but crappy hosting/upload quality on FB.

    Thanks!

Yep, 4.7 case in front of the stock chain case.

Look on Low Range’s website for the doubler adapters, 4.7’s, and a donor top shift tcase. Then you’ll need a new crossmember and driveshafts. Best mod I’ve ever done for sure

It’s not hateful...also completely worth it. I’m less than $2k into my whole setup. The write ups sound way scarier than when you have the stuff in front of you and you’re putting it together.

Yeah definitely can't blame John for passing. And I would've said fuck that in Mark's too haha

single 4.7 case in the 4r is pretty baller. Plenty of gearing in most cases. Double low would be nice in a few spots but mainly I want the 2.28 case for 2wd road use, or just for trail riding and reversing

My old truck had 5 all the way around. Drove it like that for almost 5 years with 0 issues.

Legally, you can have 30 (35 maybe?) on the front two. The backs don’t matter, you can spray paint those if you want.

No issues with 5% is impressive haha. I'm debating what darkness for my Celica. Tennessee says 35% all around and 70% windshield is the max.
I'm thinking maybe 15% rear and rear sides, 30 front and 70 windshield with a 5% strip

I have 10 on my front two, and 10 over the factory 30 on the rear doors back on the 4runner.

I think I’m going to get my windshield done in 70 or 80. Just enough to cut the glare off of everything.

I know guys that ran 5 over 5 all the way around with 30 on the windshield in highschool and never had an issue

20% is the perfect balance of keeping the sun out and still being able to see out at night, IMO.

I do see everyone here with dark tint. Maybe it is because I'm tall, but I don't feel the need to get tint at all. If the sun is in my face I just sit up a little straighter and the front edge of the roof keeps it out of my eyes.
