I read that it has been a hit or miss on getting the factory Aux and USB inputs working when installing an aftermarket receiver on the 3rd Gens. If I remember right, that is what Crutchfield says. Is that an accurate statement?

I had it installed professionally. I do not think it should be very hard. They didn't charge me for install, so i figured id save that hassle!

Do all of your OEM functions still work with that unit including USB and AUX, and GPS directions on the cluster? I'm very interested in purchasing the same unit have you. Thanks!

That looks great. I am starting to seriously consider putting the same unit in my '17 Limited. I despise the built-in GPS, and I'm not thrilled with having my phone mounted up on the dash. I put a similar Pioneer unit in my SUV last summer, then took it out when I traded it in for this Tacoma and sold the unit. I loved using CarPlay.

Are these units still thief magnets? I remember back in the day you'd get your window smashed for having an aftermarket radio.

I literally just bought this same head unit tonight...can you tell us if the center console multi-information screen still show's car information? I'm most interested if the mpg screen still works (on the center console).

I have the 8200 and my center screen still shows everthying except the nav. I usually keep it on the mpg screen.

Yes they send install instructions. Install was not hard at all. The most important part is programming the idata link, you need a Windows computer, I first tried my Macboook Pro running Windows with Parralles and it would not connect so I had to use an older Windows notebook and it worked with no issues.
I also ran the Pioneer mic to the location of the factory mic so everything would be like factory. I put in in the factory location in the overhead console and surrounded it with foam tape to insure quality sound.

When you guys flashed your maestro, how did you set the controls for the right D-Pad on the steering wheel. that's the one that controls the small center display...I'm thinking if I want it to stay defaulting to controlling the center display and not the radio unit I set the values to "none"....TIA

I heard waze might have done an update that allowed it to operate on apple car play. Not sure if I heard correct, can any of you confirm if waze works?
