My wife and I have a 1.5 month old daughter and I recently test drove before buying with the car seat in the back. We don't put her in the center seat, but behind the passenger seat. My wife is around 5'0", so putting the baby seat behind her makes the most sense. I am around 6'2" and would be a bit cramped if it were behind me. You should really have no problems with it though. Congrats too!

We got the keyfit 30. On the sides with using the anchor connections it is pretty uncomfortable for the front riders. We put ours in the middle using the seat belt and couldn't be happier. I can get the carrier in the base just fine but my wife has a harder time. she is 5'4".
    Hope this helps.

No issue whatsoever - we still have our Keyfit 30 for our 12 month old and have made many many road trips with her over her first year. Fits perfectly in the middle so it doesn't interfere at all w/ the front seats and plenty of room for passengers on either side when needed in the rear. We are now looking for an upgraded setup for our now-toddler :)

We're about to make the upgrade from the Keyfit 30... what made you return the Diono specifically? We are down to the 4Ever or the Diono Radian ourselves now

I've been doing it wrong for the last 14 months!!! I just rotated the seat to front face, space is not an issue anymore, but for the last 14 months it was a pain for the passanger riding in the front seat.
Didnt know I can put the seat in the center

I never thought to put it in the center either haha! That's pretty brilliant.

You have to put seat in middle rear (there are latch points and rear tether for toddler seat for middle. You can do Passenger rear but front seat will likely have to move forward. If you are going to have more than one kid, rationally and seriously consider a full size crew cab such as Tundra/titan, F150, Silverado, or Ram etc. You will see what I mean once you pack baby gear if you use it on a trip. Plus if you or mom sit in back with the kid you will really want a full size crew cab. We had a chev double cab which was ok. Wish we had a full size crew shortbox for that time period. Tacoma dbl cab works fine for us now with a forward seat for one toddler. If we did road trips in it often I would have gotten a crew f150 5.O shrt box. Tundra MPG was a no go for Le Wife. But in the bush those things are big.

When it was rear facing it just didn’t feel particularly stable. There is a tether from the top to the seat tracks and it just felt kinda junky for lack of a better word.

I also found the seat not particularly user friendly to set up and way the seat adjusted just wasn’t for me. When I put the baby in I didn’t get a warm feeling with everything. I found the Gracco way more user friendly.

My rear facing is a tight fit WITHOUT the base. With the quick release base it jams my knees into the dash.

Mine fits fine in a double cab behind passenger seat. Makes some nice marks in the cloth seats, too..

My wife and I are small people (she's 5'3, I'm 5'7) so it's not too tight. I could imagine it being slightly tight if anyone tall sits in the passenger seat.

Just put the seat in the middle if you're taller. It's the safest spot anyway.

This is pretty much the reason there is a double cab..
Our 2nd gen was fine with rear facing behind the driver and front facing behind the passenger.

Now the third gen is easy with two boosters back there.

Because I had previously recommended to him that the 4Runner has more room and he should test drive one before buying the Tacoma.

I should have added some shots the Tacoma.

The 4runner has 2-3 inches more leg room. Comein handy hauling adults and baby seats.

Gotcha. Didn’t see a post so didn’t know how it was relative. Just someone people post shit on here that isn’t relevant and it can be annoying. 4 runner is a decent choice if you want a ride similar to the Tacoma and can deal with losing the bed. But it is a much better choice in terms of hauling a family around. If someone needs a bunch of interior space and a bed, a full-sized truck is a no brainer

It was in his other thread. I asked how often he needed the bed first.
