I find that keeping the lawn short this time of year helps tremendously with leaf removal. I’m still mowing.

Yeah, I will still have some blowing to do, a lot of the leaves are off and winds of about 15 mph today should help get a lot of the rest. Hoping they are all done with next weekend at the latest. I was also reading this morning that keeping the grass low before winter reduces the mold and dead spots that develop over the winter. I'm going to head down this morning and do some, maybe finish up tomorrow. Not sure if I will mow next week though.

    Morning all!
Had the first snow of the season at the house this morning. Just a dusting, but it still counts! Saw some cars coming from further West during my drive in that had actual accumulation too, around an inch or so on the hoods and roofs.

Yeah, that was fun! I've also taken it down some really rough discontinued logging roads since then visiting some old fishing holes in Western Maine, and as long as there's been room between the trees she's gone through or over everything I've pointed her at. The limited slip in the back does a really good job of sorting out where to put the power; just throttle up just above an idle and it does the rest.

Usually around now, actually. Once we get a killing frost I clean the gardens out and drop the deck on the gas mower down as low as she'll go and trim the yard up, then run the tank dry and spray a shot of stabilizer into the cylinder and the carb and put it away for the year.

Which reminds me, I gotta go to VT and stock up on some 93 w/no ethanol, might as well fill up all my diesel jugs and get the tractors set too. Then fill up all my tanks and make sure everything is ready for storage. Then make sure the snow blower starts up.

It'll start fine now. It's when it's actually snowing that she'll get balky, lol.

I have needed to mow for about 3 weeks but it has rained here every time I was set to do it. Of course they are saying rain again saturday morning. I find it needs maybe 1 final cut around this time of year. The day is so much shorter it doesn't grow like it does in the summer. This summer was so wet the grass never went into that dry/dying phase. I like to use the mower with the bag to clean up leaves...Soo...many...leaves....Blower with the leaf vac and a tarp...and 6 hours two or three times before thanksgiving.

My dad used to make us bag and remove all the leaves, it would take forever, then one year we convinced him we could just mow over them regularly and that would be just as good. I'd suggest a double cut and then blow from there. You will save a lot of time.

I actually just rake mine up and dump them onto the garden beds. Then I mulch them in when I turn the beds over in the spring. :notsure:

Anyone need a spare second gen grill? Have one in storage and need to clean it out. If it's intact still, free to a good home. 06'-11'

My town has leaf pickup so all I have to do is blow them to the edge of the street. Don't even have to bag them, it's convenient.

We could bag ours up and bring them to the transfer station, but it's way more effort than it's worth.

That's what I need to check. I'm thinking it's also the bezel piece. I'll check tomorrow* after work. But should be the whole thing. Don't ask me if it's the sr5 or TRD one. can't remember which one I hacked for my raptor grill.

Agree. If I had to bag them then put them by the street, I'd find an alternative. But we just had to put them in a pile next to the street still on your property. Starting around now they have a truck that comes maybe twice a week for the next 3 weeks that has a huge vacuum like attachment in the bed that sucks up all the leaves.

Haha sounds good, if it has the surround, I'm interested. I bought the Raptor mesh stuff a looong time ago but never felt like hacking up my grill.

I use my riding mower with mulching blades every couple days till the leaf volume is too much.
My town picks up leaves, but they have to be bagged.
I have a TroyBilt vacuum chopper sucker thing that greatly reduces the volume.
I pile up the chopped leaves near the driveway and bag them with a manure shovel.
My little system seems to work out well.
