Offroad Basic model. Aka less electronics.

No TSS, manual windows, front locker, manual hubs, lower gear on reverse.

There are several things that I hate and wish I had on my 2016 Limited. First I HATE black interiors, Too damned hot for Texas and look dirty. I didn't want a moon roof. I really dislike the bed cover, it doesn't open up far enough to be of value. Windshields are not a tough as my older one I got 4 nicks in first 2 months, on same road my older one never got any, I wish it had a strong lock box behind back seat, so I could lock my gun inside the truck. New sound system kicked out all the storage behind seat. Power seats, would be great I drive long distances in mine, and my back hurts by the time I get there. Not well made. I wish the parking break was in different spot, It holds crumbs, junk dirt and always looks dirty. In same area. the center console storage box, the lid will not open up far enough to get something out with out stopping. It only opens up to 45 degrees. Awful. wish I had put in bed LED lights to shine under cover. Would love to have had a front camera for tight spots and to be able to turn on back camera to see how close car is tail gating me. I had a 2005 Pre Runner and I loved it from top to bottom and disappointed in the Limited just not a truck for active 73 yr old man who loves trucks. I never take mine off road. Not what I do.

Are you guys referring to the console storage area under the armrest? o_O

I can open the lid to full vertical (90 degrees) while driving. I do have to move my arm out of the way and then reach almost straight down as the lid is now a wall. It is not suggested, but it CAN be done. I have done so on multiple occasions to pull out a charging cable, pen, ect.

Obviously this isn’t from the factory and I agree it should have been but you can add the Smart Key handle to the passenger side, an easy fix to an annoying problem.

Don’t like the fact that my 2wd 4 banger is as high off the ground as a 4wd. Didn’t stop me from buying it, but I sure miss my 2012.

2nd gens opened to the side towards the passenger seat, much better. as far as i am concerned anyone sitting in the passenger seat has no business in my storage box!

Help for those that complain the most....thank you Toyota for a great product; and a man made product which can never be perfect... but for years, the best in its class, by a long shot!

Third gens open the same way my 1st gen opened. As I said in my prior post, I have no trouble opening it and reaching in, but I never had a 2nd gen.

Much like covering the tie down track with a bracket for my tonneau I do not feel any loss as it was the same in the last Taco.

I did add foot well, console and glove box lights to my 04, kinda disappointed value was not found to add these in 13 years.

    My list would be ...
    - Steering wheel about 1" higher
    - Rear disc brakes
    - Easier to read climate control knobs (not real easy in daylight)
    - Power rear window
    - One 12V power outlet that is always 'hot'

I wish they'd still put the 4.0l V6 in them. The more I drive my '18 Sport, the more I miss it.

IDK man. I remembered getting 16-17 mpg consistently on my 2nd gen. I'm getting 22 on my 18. I feel it has more power when you really need it.

As some one having an ZF 8 speed in my daily driver, I would say they should skip Aisin and get a better automatic gearbox in the tacoma. They already have transmission issues since gen2 and still didn't change much.
