Not all LED are created equal.

I have a LED tactical flashlight that can throw light several blocks very clearly lighting the area. I could ID anyone in the lighting.
I also have a an LED flashlight that can make reflectors glow about 2 blocks away, but in no way seem to light the area.
My incandescent is lucky to make a stop sign glow at 1.5 blocks, and damned sure can not cast enough light to be able to identify even the hair color of someone at that distance.

Disappointing compared to what? HID or factory Halogen?

They're designed to be plug and play replacements for stock, of which they certainly are an upgrade. However they are not an improvement over $1500+ professionally-retrofitted HID housings.

That doesn't mean they don't exist. Ever seen $1M in ones? Yeah me either, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Example: the Corvette XB LED headlights put out 305lux vs stock (aged HID, mind you) at 135lux: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5c9XIkquSB0&t=108s

The Tacoma lights put out more than the stock halogens for sure. Glad to compare the two on video soon!

This would be an awesome video to see the comparison of brightness and most specifically the cut offs.

Sure thing. We'll knock that out later today. Stock halogen, stock w/ HID added, and XB LED. I bet it'll be snugly in the middle. :)
