TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

I'm seriously considering giving them a shot, but the overall seat is uncomfortable, much more so than those in my 2010 even when new.

I have had the opportunity to drive a 2017 RAV4 during the past several days and the seats are surprisingly really comfortable.

 

Just for a test, not driving. You could get longer bolts and an inch of washers for a test. Then return them either route you go.

Here is the Gates SC belt tensioner from Amazon next to the Magnuson kit part. Different pulley but the tensioner is identical. The Gates is made in Mexico versus Canada for the original part. I swapped the old pulley onto the new tensioner. I suppose those running a smaller belt like the 69.5 could even use a slightly smaller pulley to offset the increased tension created with a smaller belt. Maybe find the middle ground for too much tension and preventing belt slippage.

I also ordered the ACDelco version, so I'll post if that's any different.

On top of that, I've been in touch with Magnuson and they are sending me a replacement under warranty. The QA rep couldn't confirm if there was a redesign. He stated that this was the first documented case of the tensioner breaking, but I sent him the photos of @XPOTRPR and the other TRD guy's broken parts which he acknowledged.

This tensioner is also used on Ford F150s so the larger pulley may be for those applications.

Edit: The AC DELCO is the exact same as the Gates with an oversized pulley

 

Now that break line raises my eyebrows.

 

anyone in need of an ECU with TRD tune? Just now getting around to selling it. Thought I would ask in here first.

Lol, I drive it plenty...everyday in fact. I’m just fortunate to have an easy quick commute and everywhere I go is relatively close to me.

So, if I stomp on the boost with the windows down and smell something like a little burnt rubber, could that be belt slippage? 2.85" pulley.

 

Probably tires.
