I was thinking of replacing the stock plastic bedliner in my '18 Taco with a line-X, but I am curious what would have to be done to keep the power outlet in the bed? I'm not sold on the idea, but I like the way the Line-X looks. BTW...I did look around the forums and I could not find a thread related to the power outlet.

Your truck does not have a plastic bedliner. The bed itself is made of fiber reinforced composite (plastic).

    Welcome to TW.

So that is NOT a drop in bedliner attached to the bed of my truck?

Nope. That's the bed. Take a look underneath the truck.

If you like the looks of the line-x just use your truck till the bed is scratched. Or you can armor all it and keep it shiny.

People have bought rubber bed mats (or cut a stall mat to size) for grip and/or reinforcement. Just FYI.

Get a bed mat and call it a day. The OEM Tacoma one is nice.

And scratches in the bed are GOOD. It's a truck! Throw some firewood back there!

I wonder if you could line the bed anyway.

    Maybe a process like
    1. Scuff/sand
    2. Prime with plastic bonding flat white
    3. Bed liner

    Any thoughts?

Why? Might as well use that money to start a campfire, since your would just be wasting it.

    You need a bed mat.

The composite gets hot as hell here in Texas and slippery to boot.

For the record, I love the fact the bed is slippery. Dragging heavy items, bikes, etc. is so much easier. I do get that things roll around, but I keep a healthy amount of tie downs and straps on hand and keep everything tied down nice and snug.

That's fine, just remove the mat. I like my mat to keep stuff sliding around.

The tie down system is another option like you said.

The mat is just another option, depending on what you are after.

    Exactly.

I keep the OEM mat in for carrying things I don’t want sliding around.
If I have to move furniture, appliances, etc, I remove the mat.

Your dogs would appreciate a Bedrug. Great product. My third truck with one. Little bit of extra padding.
I have their XL mat which doesn’t cover the bedwalls. They make a full liner.

Note that the composite bed is SLIIIIIICK when wet. I about broke my neck getting in the back of the bed to wash the roof. My cat like reflexes saved me. LOL. Get the OEM bed mat for protection and grip then call it a day.

Thanks for the info guys. I honestly didn't know how the bed was built...that there is no liner, its just...the bed. I think the bet mat will be the future for me.
