Can't imagine putting a rear facing car seat in my Taco. God that would suck.

One of my favorite days with my truck was when my little guy finally went from a normal carseat to a booster. The amount of reduced plastic in my backseat was amazing. Here's the before and after.

I've set up kid car seats for all 3 platforms. Tundra is in a league of its own. Midsize platforms don't compare. In fact, a friend of mine recently sold off his 4Runner for a Tundra when he saw how much more room he'd have for his 3 kids.

100 percent agree but the t4r is closer to the tundra then it is the taco.

Don't get me wrong, I love our new Tacoma and right now the 2nd row is still adequate for my 4 year old (front facing car seat) and 9-month old (rear facing car seat placed in the middle), but when the new Tundra arrives, we will probably be trading in our Tacoma for it.

If you value 2nd row room, you won’t regret it. Tacoma, 4Runner, Forester, or any other midsize vehicles don’t compare at all.
We are in the wife’s van on most family outings, so it’s not a big deal to me. If the truck were the main family-mobile, I’d go full-size as well.

Yes, we got the Tacoma as our 3rd vehicle. My wife drives a 2014 Acura MDX and my daily driver is a 2016 Lexus RX350. Both of them have 2nd rows that are much spacious than the Tacoma's.

I owned both. The interior room for the 4Runner is significantly greater, especially when comparing the second row to the rear of the Tacoma.

Difference of only 0.3 inches in leg room. See below (obtained from Toyota website)

    Tacoma 2nd row dimensions:
    Head room 38.3
    Hip room 56.3
    Leg room 32.6
    Shoulder room 58.9

    4Runner 2nd row dimensions:
    Head room 38.6
    Hip room 55.7
    Leg room 32.9
    Shoulder room 57.7

Let's get serious about some of these claims. Feels larger, yup I understand that as there are lots of factors that play into that. But these are front/rear spec's from Toyota and I'm sure are all measured in EXACTLY the same way. listed in `front/rear`. Just noticed I picked Tundra with sunroof and Tacoma / r4 without hence the rear hear room number on the Tundra.

Where do you live? Not that I would ever pay MSRP for anything, but its closer than I see in Austin.

So multiple people who OWN BOTH have said the 4Runner has a larger and more comfortable 2nd row and your only argument is to post a chart of measurements. I doubt those numbers mean anything to them nor will it change their minds. I get your point, the numbers say one thing however actual user experience says another. How about this, you go to a Toyota dealership and sit back to back in a Tacoma and then 4Runner and tell us if you believe those numbers after your experience. Numbers say one thing, actual real world experience says another. Only one way to find out, go sit in them and try it out.

Is the 4Runner’s 2nd row seat able to be adjusted backwards like other 3-row SUVs? If it is, that’s probably the reason why it can be much more roomy - because it can take some of the leg room from the 3rd row.

Salt Lake City area. There's a dealership here that sells them for MSRP and another close by that sells them for $2k above. Never have seen $65K for a 4Runner. Texas is a big ass state, used to live in Houston. There are many dealerships to choose from and if you expand your search radius a little bit you will find a deal on one.

I’ve owned all 3, no need to go to dealer. I did say, I can understand the “feels larger”. That list was more about the comparison with the Tundra, as that’s just fucking daft IMO.

But after owning them if I wanted 2nd row comfort, not a chance I’d own either Tacoma or 4Runner. I’m simply trying to help out the OP with factual information rather than bias “feelings”, which is why I never made any judgment on my own feelings about the size until you posted this bollocks.

So, i realized why I think the 4Runner Pro is so expensive. In my area they are very short on avail, so the Pro is often laden with major add ons like lifts, tires, premium everything by the dealership, and tons of garbage add ons by the Gulf States Toyota distributor.

So its not uncommon to see something like $10K for "Big Boy Package".

When i went in to get my Tacoma, I saw a beautiful TRD PRO 4Runner and looked at the sticker and told my sales guy, I will take this one instead. It was loaded and i was like wow, it is only $48K. Then he pointed out it had $12K of add ons. I was like F that! Humbled.

    Toyota Cedar Park TX.

Now that is what they were asking, I don't know they got it

They have a TRD Off road for $54k listed right now. Crazy but some folks have more money than sense.

California transplant land. No wonder. Jacked up the prices on everything there.
