Nooo my truck is totaled

Thankfully no one was seriously injured. T-boned at 65mph. Truck is built solid. Well it was fun owning for two weeks.
Time to start looking for a new one

Wow. Toyota did their homework on crash testing that’s for sure.

I’ve always wondered how this would turn out if say you had some steel frame sliders on. Would it reduce the impact or make it worse?

 

I assume the energy would be transferred to the occupant.

 

I agree.. but it would lessen the crumple zone I would assume. Which actually is the opposite of its purpose

Ouch! That definitely will not buff out. Your truck gave it's life for you. I'm glad to hear everyone is ok.

 

Going with, negligible change (down in the noise). Not enough crumple room for side impacts to talk about, so any additional stiffness from adding them (and loss of crumple) would be pretty negligible.

That is all airbag, and seat design (my 2 cents)

Had to have been.. rocker panels don’t have any real paint transfer and doors are clearly not the primary impact point.
