Because to get the lift on the 6112s, you use the height adjustment notches. On the 5100s, people advise NOT to do this, but rather run them at the "0" setting and buy a larger spring like 888. So why is it OK to up the preload and use the height notches on the 6112s, but NOT do the same with the 5100s?

So what I'm getting at ... is there a negative to running the 6112s at the higher (or highest in my case) rather than at the lowest setting?

Compare shock bodies in post #53, the thicker body and more oil will compensate and you wont find an OME spring to fit around a 6112, that's why it comes with it's own spring. I pointed that out earlier too.

This is the stuff you send HS to answer your questions, that's why we told you to contact them.

I'm glad somebody is getting paid to answer your questions.....

Bottom line the 6112/5160 will suit your needs, if you need 2 inches of lift you have the clip setting to get them.

If HS doesnt have a 3 leaf AAL in stock you have another resource with wheelers.

You have all the recommendations for the bushing install and a line on a local guy to assist.

You have recommended UCAs to buy but at that height it's your decision to install, go ahead and do it to make alignments easier. It wont hurt anything.

    This thread should be DONE!

thanks. from what I've read, using the 6112s at the 5/6th notch still is a great ride...not too stiff. Sounds like I'll be about at the height you're at... or maybe a tad higher?

Once you get under the truck, you’ll understand everything a lot clearer. Sifting through TW can only teach you so much, and it gets confusing when some info seems contradictory to other info. You just have to collect a bunch of advice from experienced members, put together your best guess and go with it. Since you’re not doing serious wheeling, you’ll be fine with any of these suggestions.

I don’t know half of what the guys in this thread know about mechanics and I’ve rebuilt several suspensions myself that have worked out very well.

    You’ll be fine:mudding:

I pulled the trigger. 6112/5160, will buy other stuff in a bit like the 3leaf from wheelers. I may try having Marie set both at the 5th slot and use a 1/4 spacer for lean.

Happy you finally pulled the trigger but odd you wanna set a 5/5 setting and add a spacer ...but it’s your truck so enjoy!

Well that’s what I was asking. Is it better to do a 5/6th notch or 5/5 or 6/6 with a spacer for the taco lean?

I started reading through this thread for info. About 4 pages in, I had all the info I needed. I kept on reading because I was waiting to see when OP was actually going to stop.

People went out of their way for 14 pages to help you out and that’s the kind of shit you say? You realize you sound like an entitled little bitch, right? Learn some fucking manners, bro.

OK tough guy. Your mom sure likes my manners.

Unfortunately NOT ALL of my questions were answered otherwise I wouldn't ask again. I'm very appreciative of all the help I got here, but things like the 5/6th notch thing was VAGUELY answered. Kind of important if I'm about to drop a lot of cheddar.

Really? You answered WHY one was better than the other or how the preload variance could affect things? I believe you just said to do the 5/6th notch and its fine.

Oh and BTW, Marie has suggested that MANY complain going to the 5/6th notch affects ride quality because of the preload and that its a bit harsh. Which is why I may be going to 5100s now with 887.
