I tried programming the transmission temperature sensor into my Scangauhe, however after doing so I found out the truck will not correctly report transmission temperature as it does on newer trucks.

Has anyone with a 1998 specifically gotten transmission temp to work? I know a few 1999 and 2000 have had it.

I know for sure older 1st Gens can read transmission temp. It’s the earlier years that’s the issue.

Ok I have an 04 and it reads it fine. Did you try the scan gauge website? I think I found mine off a forum but I’m looking now. If I can’t get it tonight I’ll get it off my scan gauge tomorrow

I got my code off their website. I don’t think the issue is the scangauge, it’s just earlier Tacomas not reporting temperature.

Yeah I just found a code for 01-04

I’m remember having an issue at first with this. But found a few variations of the codes and found one that worked. I hope someone with a pre 2000 can chime in
