We're working on it. Between the railroad and friends/family we've got a lot of help and more coming. This storm can take our power, homes, and vehicles, but it won't take our drive to restore our hometown.

 

Have you had a chance to see some different areas? I have no idea how my house in Bayou George faired.

 

I know you all there have a curfew in place. U should consider making a run to a neighboring town that wasn't hit bad or at all in one day. Johnny Laws are serious about curfew for everyone s sake. When you need to restock. Daylight is getting shorter by the day.

 

Where at in bayou George? I got people up there. Southport is hit or miss. From what I've seen everything south and west of here is destroyed except for the beach

 

The nearest town that was taken out by this is over an hour away and police aren't patrolling very well. If my family wanted to go I'd go, but they're not. There's places on the beach that have power and resources but they haven't done anything north of the bridge so far.

My house is in sweetwater village. I was able to talk to my neighbor and they said mine was the lucky one. Hardly any damage. I’m happy with the good news, just feel bad for everyone that lost their homes.

 

The news wasn't about the Caddy calipers. It was that Ruff Stuff was now offering brand new ones that don't require a core return.

 

Meh. Lol. Just placed a steering kit order with them.

 

Spent the day driving through the northern part of the storm damaged area today for work. It is devastated. Can't even imagine what the coastal areas look like.

So I was doing more re-search and leaning more towards a 1st gen single cab or ext cab possibly a 98. I think it will be more efficent to mod. I would like to do 63's, bobbed bed, SAS so on so forth. I have a question I found a e locker on ebay and if it has the same gear ratio as the axle of a standard 4x4 than is it just the swapping of a third member to have a electronic locker?Thanks maybe @allenfab can help.Im not sure if the diffs are the same size or they differ like on the 2nd gens.

 

Negative, ghostrider. The 8" Elocker has a different axle housing and stud pattern than the 8.4 axle. It's also supposed to be not as strong, probably due to the 8.4" having the carrier bearing truss while the 8" 3rds don't. Again though, for a trail rig, a Detroit in the rear would be the way to go.

That said, I don't think it will be more efficient to mod than the 3rd Gen T4R. The T4R already has a better departure angle so no need to bob it. You can still do a 63" Chevy swap on it, which will probably actually work better considering the 3rd Gen T4R is a bit heavier than the 1st Gen Taco. You could also swap the 8" axle out for a 2nd Gen 8.4" axle at the same time. As far as the front end goes, I don't see an SAS being much different than on a Tacoma. The frontends are basically the same, although I think the front clamshell is maybe a little smaller on the T4R from research I've done on getting a True Trac for the OGT. Supposedly the T4R carrier bearing journals are only 45mm vs the Tacoma's 50mm journals. Dunno if that means the CVs are smaller or if the journal is just thinner though.

This applies to a 1st gen also SOB. So the only way to actually put in a E-locker on a non E-locker tacoma is to swap out the whole F'ing axle .

Is there an overland expo east attendees thread? Just seeing whos in the area that's planning on going; I was going with a group, but they may back out and I'd still like to go.
