At the dealership with my 4800 mi 18 now and they’re questioning the shit out of my complaint of stumble. Made the master tech take a ride to “replicate”. Anyone else getting as much hassle?

Can I assume you haven't read the previous 2500 posts in this thread? LOL Yes, lots of push-back from some dealers. The consensus seems to be either call Toyota corporate to complain about that dealership or go to a different dealership.

    TLDR
I browsed through. I had a ‘17 for 2 years before the lease was up and got the 18. I had absolutely no problem with TSB reflashes when I took that one in. The tech acknowledged the stumble and said he’d look into a software update.

Had my 2018 done yesterday at Destination Toyota in Burnaby, BC. Service adviser didn't even blink when i told him I wanted the update. He said he's had at least a few 2018s in for it. In my case I wanted them to try it since I've been doing some drives up long hills and it wants to hold the lower gear for far too long (especially bad with cruise control on). It'll sit at 5000+rpm with no need as when it finally shifts up it has ample power at the rpm range it's at to maintain speed.

I definitely noticed the change on my way home yesterday. There is a highway on ramp I go over every day commuting and previously right at the spot i needed to speed up it always seemed to be lacking in power at the gear it was in (maybe the stumble condition range?). This time it just cruised right through it with no issue getting quickly up to merge speed.

If you have an ODBII reader you can check the current ID to see if it's been updated.

It'll show 8966304A6100 as the calibration ID if it's current for a 2018.

Might be worth grabbing a reader for future use. < $20 and handy to be able to read codes at home on a variety of vehicles.

Can you make settings changes with this (ex. Seatbelt chime) or just read codes?

There are many of us feeling the same way as you. Regrets here big time. Mine was built after the ECU update was published and it did NOT have the latest software. You should get it done.

It’s what you can plug into the “computer port” on your vehicle and see all kinds of info. There are a couple of them advertised on the bottom of the page you’re looking at.

Carver finally got the parts in this week.... had both done today noticed shifting improvement when going up a slight incline it will now just down shift one gear to 5th instead of holding 6th too long and then dropping all the way down to 4th. Can't say much more yet but I see an improvement so far
I can still find the howl but not near as noticeable.
I worked with Ruth Miller Asst. Service Manager - she was great. She told me after it was done that they have had some Tacoma's that the ECU flash didn't stay and they have had to open cases with Toyota on those trucks. She was very open about telling me to pay close attention to it and call if it should start to show the weird shifting again.
Very pleased as this was my first experience with them - won't be my last!

    ECU flash didn't stay? I don't think that's possible.

Yeah me either - but maybe she meant it reverts back to being the same condition as before like others have stated here. Hope I don't have to find out.....

    It will revert back..
I had to disconnect the battery to get it reset.
Truck feels as it was after tsb.
Will try to drive in S until 1.05 release

I'm gonna say something that goes against the conventional wisdom around here...

My tsb specifically mentioned and adressed the hesitation from a stop. It never said anything about the surge. I find it very hard to believe Toyota released a TSB addressing all these issues covered by a single TSB. I know the calibration numbers are the same, but I just can't see one TSB fixing all the issues at once.

Anyways, my truck is at the body shop getting rust fixed, so I have moved on to other issues lol.
