    Southeast Ohio camping isn't anywhere near as exciting as the rest, but I love it regardless!

    @honda50r Good trail loop recommendations for an intermediate rider for the Brevard area (Dupont and Pisgah)? I hear that area is chunky/rocky. Not looking to kill myself coming from relatively flowy SLC area trails.

    And if you had to pick a bike for those trails: Smuggler, Sentinel, Wreckoning, or HT / HT LT?

    Good trail recommendations for Galbraith / Bellingham in November anyone?

    I'm thinking of demoing the Smuggler when I'm there, unless anyone has a better Transition model they'd recommend.

    The few days before Thanksgiving are when I'll be around there visiting family. Not sure which day I'm riding yet, but Tuesday or Wednesday are pretty much my options, preferably tuesday because that's when most of the Tranny demos haven't been claimed yet..

    i'd personally ride the patrol, sentinel, or scout before the smuggler... but the smuggler is still a very capable bike.

    I rode the Patrol and Scout in Grand Junction this Spring. Hated the Scout, pedal struck everything. The patrol was sweet, but a lot of bike. That what kept me from the Sentinel. A long travel 29er just seemed overkill.

    Pisgah and Dupont are different. Pisgah is significantly more rugged and very "backcountry"; the climbs are rewarded with long-fast descents that feature many natural features and littered with rocks. Black Mountain, Bennet Gap, Pilot Rock, and Farlow Gap are all legendary trails.

    Dupont is wider trails and has a sandy soil that is rain-friendly. Trails tend to be more moderate with lesser mileage but still fun. Cedar Rock, Burnt Mountain, and Ridgeline are dope.

    You can't go wrong because both areas feature classic east coast trails. Use Sycamore cycles or The Hub can give you quality loops. You can use Trailforks to piece together, also.

    @NWTFIowa what are your thoughts on advice here?

    If you're new to the area I would recommend Wreckoning / HT LT for Pisgah. Dupont would be dope on a Smuggler or HT

    That’s fair. Smuggler it is! If you can pop on a sentinel you should. I’ve heard that bike is surprisingly nimble for long travel 29er.

    I agree man, I love my smuggler as its amazing what that bike can take and def does not feel like a 29er at all in its handling. That said though, I would love to try out a sentinel.

    @honda50r & @Gunshot-6A

    Oh yes I would agree with you. I see Dupont as a warm up to Pisgah Trails. I like to do the Burnt Mountain, Big Rock loop at Dupont which is mostly technical roots/drops/ granite slick rock. My favorite Trail at Pisgah is Bennett Gap and Black Mountain Trails. Which may seem cliche but they are awesome Pisgah trails. Lower black mountain is more groomed with rollers and fun kicker jumps. So if you survive the tech of middle black you will love lower black. Message me for any info!

    If you had one afternoon ride allowed to you, what would you pick? Black mountain sounds pretty fun.

    I would do the Middle/Lower route. Park at the horse stables and start climbing up Clawhammer FS road. Then take Maxwell Cove or FS trail #5099 this is about 2.5 miles. Then you will get to the black mountain trail turn left to go up Upper black. Turn right to go to Middle black . I encourage you to turn up and hike a bike the lower section of Upper black. Just know that bikers are hauling ass down that section. In my opinion that is one of the best sections of the trail as it is smooth flowy singletrack. Then you climb to the top of middle and soak up the washed out technical sections of middle black. you will run into lower black and it will dump you off in a parking lot beside the Ranger station. So then you can just pedal back to the horse stables! If this doesnt make sense then let me know!
