    I’ve had my tensioner under pressure longer than most wonder if the cast Aluminum mold was modified to save cost and material? I would be curious to see 2007/2008 made TRD SC vs a Magnuson 2017. Who knows they might be identical...

    thats absolutely the weakest section. same where mine broke. its just so thin right there, and its cast aluminum. shitty manufacturing process.

    If I had the time and go ahead.. I could maybe start looking into machining batches of these from Solid 6061. If we had enough people interested, and a design locked down(time and money).. I could run it through for a quote. I could try modeling it up over my free time to save money (plus its just more practice for me, and I have had good luck on other parts I've modeled up).

    pretty much the same thing another company quoted me to get done (that was before my new gig at this machine shop).. but now that I have the capabilities.. we could get this going.. for a little cheaper.

    pretty sure they are identical. My blower is the older TRD model (bought used like 5 years ago, and it was ran prior to that too) and I've had 2 tensioners replaced since then. The first one (one that came with the blower "original/old") the Dealership snapped it off doing some warranty work. so they replaced that.. less than 3 months later.. it snapped on its own. same place..

    It looks like they bought the tensioner from a different company (Gates or Delco) and threw their pulley on it.

    If I had to guess... I'd say they kept the same process throughout.

    Hahaha. Super overkill and would be $$$. Much more so than Aluminum. Not just material wise... But machine time and tool wear.

    Aluminum will still work great for this, it just needs to be a better design or better alloy.
