I tow a lot IMO, usually around 2-3k lbs and have tried the following:

    Hellwig 1k lb helper spring
    Sumospring 610-40 for 2016+
    Sumospring 610-40 for 2015

The helper spring from hellwig made a lot of rattle noise so I took those off, they did however do a good job at preventing sag, and can be tightened down enough to give you about 1/4-3/8” loft

The sumosprings for 2016 + are smaller in diameter and shorter than the ones for the 2015 model. Because of this, they are rated for only 500lbs, while the 2015 model is rated at 1000 lbs. to get a 1000k capacity in the 2016 model you need to step up to the 610-47, which cost more.

I’m the end I ended up keeping the 610-40 for 2015 Tacoma. They just barely touch the frame, so little that you can move them around and hear them rubbing the frame when unloaded. I did not really notice a difference in ride from stock, except of course when hitting a bump it is a bit stiffer. The sumo springs made for 2016+ was just like stock over small bumps, stiff over larger bumps, but less so than the 2015 model. To small a difference for me to give up the additional load capacity. Plus you can cut the springs if you want to create some clearance between them and the frame.

Never considered a new leaf pack because, we’ll when you tow you will be wearing whatever pack you have faster than normal, and my goal was to preserve the integrity of any pack that was in there.

Considered air bags, but just Seems like too much effort to pump up, deflate, equalize between the two etc. they can get costly

Lmfao at him blocking you. While I agree with some of his posts and opinions, He’s a snowflake. Gets all butt hurt and blocks people. 66k messages, can’t take any criticism, and acts like a little 12 year old girl. Obviously he hasn’t much else to do.

Let it squat. Unless you are towing all the time who cares?

If you must fix it, then airbags. I have never used them.

It’s not that I didn’t agree with some of the things he was saying either. OP just asked in his first post about the sag and so I just offered two options. I personally have DSC with custom leaf pack from ArchiveGarage and I absolutely love my setup. My cousin wanted me to go with the airbags so bad because he has theM on his truck but I figured I’d save that for my trailer :)

Tundra Sumo springs and fully loaded bed.
There's boxes of hardwood flooring in the bed with all those moldings on top.

How do you know he blocked anyone?

He was correct in his argument on this thread. KTJO was/is confused.

Ya u got to have flaps, I used to use rock blocks but they weren't long enough after my lift and 285s and ray 10s so I decided to make my own!

So you are using Tundra sumo springs, was there any modification necessary for that or do they just bolt up, I am not too familiar with them.

They're exactly the same as Tacoma sumo springs but with a higher weight rating. 2000lbs I believe. They accidentally sent me the Tundra springs and I decided to just keep them.

“Adios” doesnt mean he blocked anyone.

Probably just meant to indicate he checked out the conversation.

Blocking someone is pretty weak. Lol

You could also get a Dakar pack and keep your stock suspension. The leafs are the weakest POS on these trucks. The Dakars are sweet for towing just don’t get the HD pack unless you are constantly carrying 600+lbs

...been there done that. Took a leaf out now at 6 leafs and it’s awesome to pull the boat

I like the cup idea. I ran the firestone airbags without a cup for 10 years without a problem in my 09 Tacoma. Never did any serious off-roading with it. Always had about 600 to 700lbs in the truck between tools and a camper top. The truck always rode level with about 20lbs of air in each airbag. I just installed Helwig airbags in my new 2018 double cab Tacoma. I noticed the airline comes off the bottom of the bag with the Helwig setup where the Firestone bags had the fitting at the top. Coming off the top the line will be stationary. I hope this doesn’t cause a leak in the line on the Helwig setup with the suspension traveling up and down. Time will tell. The line wasn’t installed yet when I took the picture. You can see the brass fitting for the air line in the top picture next to the leaf spring.

The easiest step you can take to reduce squat is to install a Weight Distribution hitch system.

I like the airbag option cause that can stop the squat while towing OR due to a loaded down bed. A Weight distribution hitch won't help that at all. So for me, I avoid a "1 trick pony type" solution when there are options that cover a couple scwnarios...
