If anyone is up in flagstaff this weekend, I'm probably going to do a little afternoon run in the cinders tomorrow afternoon at some point. Let me know if anyone wants to tag along or ride along. @StOrMyThEtAcO @snowboard704

Big shout out to @Harambe4President for the skid! Slowly cannibalizing other Tacoma’s used parts!:p I was thinking about powdercoating it but I have a buyer lined up for my Pelfrey skid and so I threw it on tonight. Way more of a pain to install than aftermarket, surprisingly. Had a bastard of a time getting spacers to line up.

Any chance that there are control arm skids that fit with the TRD skid? I think the RCI units are right out because of the cam tab protection would not clear.6E8D4F8D-42E8-4E7F-B1E6-ED9EEE281140.jpg

Anyone here buy a trd off road 4x4 for 37.5k or less?

The gf convinced her mom to go quicksand, & I convinced her to go 4x4... all that’s left is to see if I can get it for the price

Edit: Autonation in Tempe has a trd sport 4x4... id do it.. fuck it

You opted for the TRD skid vs Pelfreybilt? Why downgrade? And are your lights all straight? Or is one crooked? :boink: Sorry had to

Hate that these turd gens are so expensive. But if they can do the 37.5k i think I’ll be able to get it. Only took a few months. Lol

I spent a year shopping and talking to dealers to get my gf's 4Runner. Seems they don't haggle like they used to

Gonna check out a couple tomorrow. Hoping I can get the 4x4 trd sport atleast. It’s a 2018 so should have more luck. Only found one other dealer with a quicksand but it’s a 2019. Msrp at 39k. Getting wild

Aluminum to aluminum plus I get the factory jack points back... I figure it’s more of an even swap than any downgrade. Believe it or not the TRD factory skid is actually thicker, I think it is spec to 7mm which is slightly bigger than 1/4”

And the lights are fine dammit!

You'll get shit for the lights for at least another 20 years. And Material thickness isn't everything. Design is big too. I'd be willing to bet the Pelfreybilt was much stronger and you probably could've jacked straight from the skid. Haven't seen them, so don't quote me on that. But their design was probably stronger and better.

    Yes.

Pelfrey was certainly more low profile which was nice, but I wouldn’t have trusted it to jack on. I am in no way dumping on the pelfrey design, I’m just trying new things really. I run an aluminum skid as a defense against the unexpected, not because I expect to drag it across obstacles.

Uh dude what are you talking about. The TRD skid plate is aluminum and just stamped. Its not that tough. Compared to the steel pelfreybilt, its a tin can. I have lifted off of the front and mid skid with a jack as it mounts to frame. I would not lift the truck off of the aluminum skid. Pelfrey skid will take shit tons more pounding and doesnt have a lower hang than the stamped one to be worried about.

You definitely should be able to get one for $37k. Especially a regular TRD Off Road 4x4 with no other options.
