I always claim my stuff at the border. When I picked up my bumper, they asked me to open the back of the truck to have a look, wanted to see what was inside. I had a separate package that pelfreybilt threw a t-shirt and stickers into. I was asked why I didn't claim that. Had to explain what it was and had to open it. All cleared and good to go after that.
Funny thing is when they wanted me to open the cardboard box, I didn't have a knife so I asked them for one. They refused to give me one for security reasons and would not open it themselves. Had to rip it apart.

The guy I had was a dick too

I claimed it and when going in to pay told him the receipt was just an online one .He said there has to be one in the box . Ended up grabbing the instructions and being like 'see there's the receipt, are you trying to use a fake email or something'

I looked at him and was like 'that's the install instructions sir'
He looked at them and then was like 'well then I guess it's just the one on your phone' in a sarcastic way.
Fuckin old fat piece of shit.
The bullshit fact he wasn't even the CBSA agent that told me to go pay from the booth he was literally just standing outside of the office where you go to pay .

Honestly if caught they can fuck you so bad its really not worth it .They could actually confiscate the stuff you're brining in.

If it's visually obvious like a topper or new bumper yeah. If they catch you, it gets nasty as they could levy sales tax on the book value of the whole "modified vehicle", not just the stuff you added.

A few years ago went with a friend to pick up rifle scopes. My friend also has some bullet projectiles he'd ordered.
So at the border we tell them about our scopes they ask if anything else, my friend says no.
We get told to pull over to the side and they check his trunk find the bullets, and they're furious. Search us, take our pocket knives - gave them back at the end of it all.
Pull everything single thing out of his car and lay it on tables while we watched.. In the middle of January.

They were really upset about him trying to sneak those in. Said his car, or him? Was flagged, so they'd search him automatically next time(s).

^Rifle scopes and ammo are small enough to smuggle in. Should've stopped by the local Harbor Freight and picked up a few cheap tools as a cover story. :spy:

Picked up a press tool at Princess Auto in Mississauga and as luck woould have it, Q107 was there giving away 10pk of free work gloves. At least we now have a tool instead of hammering the shit out of the bearing.

Not an overlander without a $400 lightbar. Plus a few more things coming this weekend to the old Chevrolet.

    One more trip next weekend

Shiny black now. I did ask for pink but they laughed. I don't think they have pink in the shop anyway but would have been cool.
The press tool made the job so simple and quick, it's going to be nice having the right tool on hand when needed.
Being under the truck and looking where the driveshaft snapped, it was pretty close to the gas tank. Thinking of maybe armour for the tank too now.
