Looks like a skeet range or a shooting range of some type.

Edit: nope. Must be an airport or landing strip. Angled glass on top floor looks like a control tower.

Edit edit: maybe it is a shooting range and the tower is for the spotters.

    Question:
Why, up north, do they enclose bridges like what's in your pic? You never see that down south so I assume it had to do with snow or frozen bridges.

Alot of those old bridges are made out of wood, even the deck. The roof keeps them protected from the elements

@ jafrisi On a side note for non Cali residence - California has nearly 900 miles of coastline, Orange County has 50 miles of coastline and the city of Laguna Beach is about 7 miles long.
Laguna Beach has about thirty separate beaches and coves, this is Aliso Creek Beach. There are a lot of little coves with tide pools, sea urchins etc - not to mention several epic surf spots.... the women aren't bad either :D

Is there some good trails there? Is this part of K Trail?

Not really trails for offroad stuff but just your basic oil/gas road that winds thru some of the public hunting land can provide some fun and some really cool views. And some challenges once it gets sloppy too.

This was about an hour or less north of K Trail. I was told a lot of K Trail is gated now except for the National Forest land that it crosses. But I cant verify that..just word of mouth from local offroad guys.

This pic was taken north west of Robbers Cave State Park.

Good question, I have no solid answer. The roof comment makes sense that certainly eliminates some of the elements. There are quite a few here in sw PA. The one in the photo I've never came across until Saturday, this is the only I've encountered that you can still drive your vehicle across.

It looks like a Fireman's training building? If so then yes.

The covered bridges are covered to protect them from the elements. Or to protect you from the elements while crossing since the bridges always freeze first.

We have a big covered bridge festival in Indiana every fall. There are at least a dozen that you are still allowed to drive across, and 3-4 times as many that you can walk across/visit. It makes for a good afternoon drive in the fall when the leaves are changing. Most of them are no where near a town, let alone a city. So its country back roads all the way just like i like it!!
