Same reason people want to spend 40k on a midsize Tacoma when you could spend the same or less and get a full size with much better power, capability and driving characteristics and in some cases better fuel economy

Some people, like myself, have driven Toyotas for 30 years and never had any problems. It's hard to walk away. I'm not going to.

I’ve mixed it up and found that once you walk away it isn’t so hard . Turns out there’s a lot of other good vehicle manufacturers out there and variety is the spice of life my man. Don’t let the fanboy horror stories scare you from breaking out of the cycle and trying something new for a change when you are ready.

Indeed. I've had Ford, Mazda, Toyota, many Hondas, Chevy.... they were all good vehicles. All modern cars are for the most part. And each had a few quirky things that made no sense. I'm actually more of a Honda fanboy than anything; but alas they don't make a real Off Road truck, so here I am.

It was supposed to be out already. I guess someone realized it couldn't meet US standards without doing some redesigning. Just to let you know Ford, I'm enjoying my 2018 Tacoma OR.

I think the Ranger came out prior to our trucks, just not here yet.

looks to me like ford sort of copied the look of the newer tacomas good looking design but looks a lot like Tacoma and still a ford not a Toyota and will never go 300k or better I do like the name to bad Toyota didn't come up with something like Tacoma Raptor 4x4 , that sounds good.

    I have a 2001 Suburban with the 5.3L Vortec.

Took it down to a trip in the Bay Area, and on the way back north near Sacramento it spewed out transmission oil on the freeway. Something with the shift solenoids went wrong and the transmission overheated. Drove it to the nearest gas station which thankfully was a Pilot, filled it up with Lucas transmission oil. 3rd and 4th gear were toast but I managed to drive it home for 375mi in 2nd gear the whole way with the engine revved at 4K-4.5k (they top out at 6k) the whole way home. 215k miles on the odometer. Super impressed at how long it lasted me and that it managed to take more abuse and still get me home, now to retire it.

Thise 5.3L’s are legendary in my book.

I think the current global Ranger bodystyle came out 7 or 8 years ago.

I agree especially the old fords but same as the older Toyota trucks they were built better and lasted many years , I still have a 72 f250 4x4 a real work horse have had it for 30 years , cant afford to drive it very far at 8 mpg but around the farm and for tough jobs , its good to still have around .

why would you want drum brakes , have you ever god them in deep water you basically have no brakes when you come out of the water , ok for a street vehical but not wortha Dam for off road especially , and even then they get hot and fade where a Disc will take a lot mor heat and still work
