Your over thinking this Tyler. An 12v inverter with 2 outlets and it will have a fuse and a circuit breaker built in.

 

Add a deep cycle marine battery to the tongue of the trailer or inside to have power when trailer is unhooked.

 

It takes a pretty big inverter to run 120 volt power tools.

What power tools will be used?

 

Well, maybe I exaggerated when I say power tools. I just want something to charge my batteries with.

I plan on camping with this too, so something to run cooking appliances with.

You’re both right though, perhaps I am overthinking this. I’ll just stick with an inverter for now.

 

I dunno how your truck would be so different from so many other but ok.

Is throw a solar panel on the trailer a good way to maintain a battery? Not necessarily charge it, just keep it from going flat when I’m not using it.

I have a 2013 Toyota Camry Battery I’ve been using around the garage to jump cars and test horns with, figured I could throw that in the trailer.

You'll need to run some protection diodes to keep the alternator from trying to charge the solar panel with 14volts.

I just charge my shit in the truck while I'm driving, everything charges so fast nowadays it's good enough.

 

Except rc cars. Like 2 hours of charging for 15min of play

 

Haha you know what, that’s a good idea.

 

What kinda batteries are you using that suck that bad. Even my cheapo NiMh batteries charge pretty quick and hold up for almost an hour

 

My DeWalt impact batteries take like almost two hours each.
