...^^^... The VAMC here is going to the new shots soon and will revaccinate everyone in the next year.

From what I was told ... The original vaccine was ok, but the new one is supposed to be much better.

^I was expecting significantly more road rash. Maybe they weren't going all that fast. (The wide angle lens on most action cameras exaggerate the sense of speed.)

I’d read that Indonesia and Malaysia are to blame for 80% of the Pacific debris.

    Sounds sketchy

In a move that is certainly not the first step towards an Elysium-type society where the haves rule the stars and the have-nots blunder about below, China is launching an artificial moon into the sky. Made from a satellite coated in reflective material, the moon will glow in the night, illuminating the streets and cutting down on electricity used by street lights, Chinese state media reports. If all goes according to plan, the first moon will launch above the city of Chengdu in the Sichuan province in 2020. More moons will follow.

China Daily. And it won't benignly sit up there to help folks get home at night. The coverage of the moon can reportedly be accurately adjusted within a few dozen meters, fine-tuned for luminosity, and used to pin-point and help disaster zones." data-reactid="24">This energy-saving "illumination satellite" will orbit 500 kilometers above the Earth, casting a glow that is eight times stronger than the real moon, but one-fifth as bright as street lights, Wu Chunfeng, chief of the Tian Fu New Area Science Society, told China Daily. And it won't benignly sit up there to help folks get home at night. The coverage of the moon can reportedly be accurately adjusted within a few dozen meters, fine-tuned for luminosity, and used to pin-point and help disaster zones.

There are concerns the man-made moon will affect people and animals with light pollution, or impede scientific equipment. But the satellites will be tested in the desert first, Wu assured, and not launched until fully approved. Whether it will look totally eerie in the night sky or not remains to be seen.

Back in '90s, Russia tried to do a similar thing with a giant mirror to reflect sunlight on super cold Russians cities. That failed due to the mirror malfunctioning. Here's hoping China's fake moon plan doesn't turn into a sci-fi horror story situation.

China has a long history of technological “successes” so what could possibly go wrong?

Interesting, not really wtf. Had a visit from the police about 2 hours ago. Got out of the shower and sat down to watch the news. Saw a light across the window but assumed it was a car turning around. About a minute later, see it again and a loud knock on the door. Answer the door to see a cop car out front and the cop standing there.
Explained that there had been four 911 no reply calls that triangulated to my house. He asked the standard questions about if I or anyone in the house had called. When I said that I was the only one here and I had not called, his reply was " yeah, I really wasn't thinking you would be calling us, but I had to check".
Almost matches up with when I got pulled over on a cruise when I was 16 and the cop tossed my paperwork in my lap and said "dude, I gotta go".

If the thing crashes to the ground, they will just bury it with bulldozers like they do with high-speed train derailments. :notsure: The Chinese are typically very efficient. For example, lethal injection vans are parked right outside courthouses to carry out sentencing.

The real WTF here? Panasonic is having to resort to crowdfunding to launch a product. The company's days are numbered.
