This may be a little long.
Hopefully someone has some seat time with both. If not opinions are welcome.
If you have a opinion on the 6112/5160 please let me know if your lifted and how much.

Ok first I’m a bit of a suspension freak. With my motorcycles it’s the first thing addressed.
Not a fan of a poor handling vehicle.
I’m not really interested in lifting, it is fine for what I use it for, ok with the 1” from the Fox.
I use my truck as a truck and it is my only four wheeled vehicle. That means daily, vacation, haul motorcycles and whatever else occasionally. Off road occasionally to get to a hiking or riding spot but really not as a hobby. Not much towing, and in the rare case would be under 1000 Lbs.

My truck just clicked over 7k miles and I’ve had about all I can take of the OR suspension.

    My biggest complaints are:

Brake dive, it is almost impossible to drive smooth.

    Broken pavement or off pavement
    The compression damping is awful.

On twisty roads way to much body roll.

My initial thought was to find low mile Fox Pro shocks, I’ve never driven a Pro BTW. I’m growing tired of looking and TBH ready to put this all behind me and enjoy the truck.
Looked at Falcon shocks, not much info on the Taco and the rear shocks require drilling the upper mount hole bigger. No go!

Then I started reading the Bilstein 6112 thread. Very favorable reviews.

    So what do you say?
    Have I missed another option?

Please don’t take this as a dig on the Tacoma, I really like this truck. Like all vehicles it needs a few tweaks to be where I want it.

OP, you seem to know what you want regarding ride quality so my only suggestion is to speak with @*TRD* who owns and operates Accutune Off-road. Ryan knows all too well how to get the most out of your trucks suspension.

I absolutely stand behind my decision to go 6112/5160 combo. I initially was going to go icon.
I saw the reviews on here about the 6112s and did my homework. I’m on the highest setting with new UCAs. The truck rides 100xs better then it did with the stock suspension. On road it’s smooth, off it handles well.

Best part about the 6112s is you can decide the height you want to go and it will have little impact on ride quality dude to the type of spring included.

I have not ridden on Bilsteins but I have the Fox Pro’s on my truck. My buddy has an off road and it’s a little hard to feel any meaningful difference. The height seems fairly identical as well. My truck dives and rolls as much as my his stock TRD OR DCSB if not a bit more.

I’m usually trying to get suspension dialed in first on all my cars/motorcycles as well.

I just moved from OR stock suspension (Bilstein 4600s) to the Bilstein 6112s/5160 combo.

The new set up feels firmer than stock, but much better damped. It is planted. No brake dive. Soaks up bumps substantially better. Adjustable and much tougher set up. German engineered to surpass OEM standards. Definitely worth the money.

I’m going with 6112/5160 in December as a present to myself. I have 27,000 miles on my OR. I don’t really have the ride complaints that most do but I think it’s because of preload. The stock springs are progressive and I have 250lbs of skids and sliders dropping the front 7/8” and the rear 1/2”. That seems to eliminate most of the floaty boat feel.

My main reason for the upgrade is ground clearance in the front (at least back to stock and maybe up to an inch like the pro) and being able to tackle washboard and whoops without worrying about the shocks overheating and blowing a seal.

The Fox Pro are more expensive and not adjustable. I believe they are also progressive instead of digressive.

So help this newbie out. If I purchased the bilstein shocks front and rear, will that also give the truck lift front and back with everything else stock?.

No lift for the rear but the ability to.
You will need blocks or springs.
These are some of the options.
