You should see the yards here up in the SoCal High Desert

Basically a house built in the center of a 1 acre dirt lot with maybe a Joshua tree or two then a chain link fences as your perimeter of your property line

Wood fences here are very rare. Lumber here is also very expensive and what they pass off as high grade is crap. When I lived up north I cut up better stuff for kindling and didn't pay anything for it. When the mills were running we'd get pickup loads for free and they'd load it.

I worked for a logger doing equipment services for a short while. Over some years they'd pour the used oil in a big 500 gallon tank and we'd burn that in the shop heating stove in winter when we had trucks come in. It burns great but that'll damn near get you thrown in jail now.

Good morning y’all, our power came on around 7:00pm last night. Today I will play catch-up. It’s a balmy 29* right now, it’s supposed to go up in the mid 40*’s. :pccoffee:

You’re lucky to have a tractor helping you. Last time I did posts was with a one man gas auger

    Good morning all,

A bit o' yard work done yesterday but it's never ending. Wind is up today and it's a tad chilly. There's a ham fest (amateur radio) this morning and a lot of the tables are outside, burrrrrrrr. We just might pick up a new or new to me transceiver...

I have a neighbor who got caught up in the wood deck craze years ago. There house is all brick exterior, very well built home. They have some really nice concrete flat work, walks and patio. They covered the perfectly good patio with a would deck, now they have maintenance and critters. You just can’t fix stupid.
