Let me start with IM A CAR SALESMAN (15 years). So you traded a truck you owned for a 2-3 year lease and at the end you have zero? Well actually you have the option to buy the other half...

When your lease is up and your vehicle's value is more than the lease buyout price then you can use the difference to your advantage. In that case you don't hand the keys over and walk away; use the profit to pay for any damage, as a down payment towards another vehicle, or ask for the cash in your hand and then walk away. I got an offer of 6 grand over my buyout price on a 2012 Highlander SE - I used that money for a down payment on another vehicle.

Uhhhhhh, so again, you won’t own your Tacoma, and at the end you’ll probably pay more money to buy the truck at the end of the lease than it’s actually worth market wise. Why not just buy the truck with your trade in?

The lease gods will tell you how it works. I’m a misinformed financial lightweight. I was schooled a week ago on it. They make it work for them and that’s great!

To be fair, his title does say this is the first 2019 Tacoma he's leased this year (how many total will he lease this year? And why would he need multiples? :)). Probably just hasn't gotten around to sitting in it yet. o_O

So when you give the truck back they are giving you money? Am I’m I understanding this correctly? I’ve never considered leases on vehicles because I’m not gentle and I like to make changes.

At the end I will buy. But the key I have is no payments for 36 months during my lease period and that was all deducted from the sale price. but with doing it this way I keep from having any interest set loan payment and I am actually making 2% interest on my savings account.

Even if it was purchased with an auto loan, you technically still don't own the truck until the loan is paid off. Either way I am paying the same amount for a truck that I had an auto loan for or leased. With my lease, at least I am making 2% interest for the 3 years I am saving money in my savings account rather than paying 2-4% interest on an auto loan. In my situation, it seems like good deal due to the having no lease payment and gaining the 2% interest from the money I save for the final payment.
