When I bought my Truck (05 V6 4.0 trd or) It had a KNN CAI installed and the guy didn't have the stock oem intake. In order to pass smog I needed the stock oem intake so I looked for one on CL. Here's the thing the intake came from an 07 x-runner. Anyways while I was replacing the knn i decided to clean my MAF Sensor an throtle body. When I started up the truck it rev'd real high and when I attempted to come a stop It struggled to shift down from 2nd to 1st. I figured this was because of me cleaning the throtle body and MAF. Anyways now (2months and 4k miles later) it still has a hard time down shifting from 2nd to 1st. Where did I go wrong? Is it the intake? No light's are coming on so I dont think it's the throtle body or MAF Sensor. All ideas are welcomed.

My truck has 68k on it. It's automatic.

What did you use to clean the MAF sensor? If you used anything that could leave a residue, you definitely messed up. ;)

Did you have/notice/attach the vacuum hose on the back side of the intake plenum, by the firewall?

All the hoses seem to be in place and everything is tight.I'm thinking of switching back to a CAI and see if that helps.

I just spoke to the dealer and their master tech says it's because of the intake. he says intakes on x-runners and different because x-runners are meant for racing? WTF? Can anyone elaborate on this?

Tried that. I left the truck unplugged for like 30 mins. Any ideas on diagnosing this?

It would be relatively easy to make sure that vacuum hose is there, slid all the way on to both nipples, and not cracked or something.....if you've done that already then I'm at a loss; not trying to be repetitive or disrespectful, just want you to be sure that's not it b/c unless you've got a check engine light on I can't see anything else being the culprit.

I'm not 100%, but I believe that supplies the fuel pressure regulator with necessary vacuum - which is directly related to your computer controlled shift points in an automatic. If that vacuum line isn't hooked up, you're coasting to a stop while off the throttle, and as far as your 'puter knows you're still on the throttle. Then a secondary (or supplementary) parameter such as wheel speed causes the shitty shift down to first.

I will double tripple check the vacum hose, is that the one that goes from the passenger side throtle body to the front of the intake, or is it the small one in the back of the intake?

Small one in back. 3/16 I believe, about 6-8 inches long. It's easy to miss, particularly if you didn't receive it from who you scored the intake from.

You know what, now that you mention it, that hose is long,(longer than stock). Reason being that when i removed the k&n intake i didn't have the stock short hose to replace it. I will cut it down today after work and see if that does it. Thanks boss.

You can pull a spark plug to see if its running too rich/lean. (black=rich, white=lean) One of the symtoms of a malfunctioning MAF sensor. I read somewhere that you can also check voltage at the sensor with a multi-meter, I am not quite sure what voltage it should read but prob. in the 5 volt range.
I think you may have have bought a bad MAF sensor, especially used on CL. Good luck.. Here's a sparkplug chart : http://www.dansmc.com/Spark_Plugs/Spark_Plugs_catalog.html

Thanks for the advice but the MAF is actually the stock one that came with the truck. The only thing I replaced was the K&n intake with the stock OEM intake.
