Just had my third child. It’s hard taking my two older kids wheeling.

I need something with more seat belts and I want something with an open top. Fj40 or a Jeep or something.

I really want something I remove the top from. Wrangler is like the Honda Civic of wheeling. Easy, plentiful and no character.

Yeah, zero complaints on the JBAs as @Overlanerd mentioned I'm on SCS Ray 10s so my BS is enough to not have any issues. Just like @tyfoon11 mentioned you'll probably be rubbing on stock wheels.

It’s a show truck, so, yeah, it’s “legit”.

I’ll translate my sarcasm. The truck was built as a showcase for the companies custom equipment. The truck made the rounds to all the different expositions and shows. I am willing to bet that if it did go off-road, it was for photo sessions. I would say the owners have a legitimate claim of light use and freeway mileage.

I wonder if anyone ever weighs a truck all decked out like that and compares it with the GVWR ? my 08 has a payload of 1200 lbs from the factory, I've only added a fiberglass shell (about 200 lbs) and nerf bars (about 50? lbs), so now I only have a 950 lb payload. my wife and I are kinda plus sized now that we're in our mid 60s, so between the two of us and the junk she can't seem to leave home without, that puts us at maybe 450-500 lbs combined... now we're down to a 500 lb cargo capacity. hitch our 3500 lb trailer, assuming 10% tongue weight, boom, only 150 lbs of more stuff in the truck staying under GVWR. my *telescope* weighs 150 lbs, never mind the two coolers, ladder, ramps, chairs, tables we bring on road trips. or our clothes, food, etc.

That company has been trying to sell that truck for a few months now. Nice truck. Still on the expensive side. They would need to find a rare buyer that is looking for that exact setup. Maybe a good idea to sell that bed setup separately?

You are correct in wondering if people ever really pay attention to the amount of weight they are carrying around and how that directly affects the GVWR of their vehicle. As a Drifter owner, I carry a ton of extra crap on my camping trips. Add the aftermarket steel added, aftermarket fuel tank, extra water tank, etc, and I am sure I am hitting the GVWR and maybe exceeding it. This is when adding more bracing and suspension capacity comes into play. Some take it too far and exceed their axle housings capacity. It’s all give and take.
Bringing this back to the truck offered in the Craigslist ad, I don’t believe it comes close to it GVWR max capacity rating. But, it does proffer up the wishfulness of being able to carry more...

    Stopping power suffers too.

Need to consider brakes upgrade when exceeding the GVWR

As evidenced by that NY limo crash.
