Need to get them wings in the cook off ;).

I did a porterhouse again last night. It was the second of those two massive ones I got from Costco. Kind of uninspiring, though. Biggest struggle was getting a roaring fire going for the sear, believe it or not. I think some of my coals got damp and they weren't putting off the heat I needed/wanted. Taste was good enough, I suppose.

I need to cook something big soon. It's been a while since brisket, pork shoulder, multiple racks of ribs, or something along those lines.

Ya I'm in a big time mood to smoke something bigger lately. Need to order some more pellets here shortly. Thinking maybe a brisket or two in the next couple of weekends.

I haven't found that site to be negative really, at all. Even when I didn’t know my ass from a hole in the wall, guys were really understanding and eager to help.

I find I SMF better overall. AR has too many pop ups and always lags on load times per page. Maybe it’s just on my end, but seems to be the case.

Ok... Let me clarify... I've gotten some really good advice from SMF... Most of it from private messages.

I don't post a lot over there simply because it's a pain to post there and here and Instagram and Snapchat etc.

I was trying to figure out a curing brine and saw that most people recommended weighing the ingredients and tried to clarify the weight (in grams) of a heaping tablespoon of cure #1.

The replies were let's just say confusing, unfriendly and weird.. both on the thread and in private messages. I got the answer I sought from the OP in a PM... But the other replies etc just turned me off of wanting to participate there as much as I do here.

It's a great website to learn and read... It's opened my eyes to a lot of new things.

So while in Austin for Formula 1, our family friends had to take us to the touristy bbq for this visit. The Salt Lick...

It’s a site to behold for sure, food is good but not amazing. Used to live in Texas and had to show my wife an H-E-B lol
