Busted a corner light on my offroad trip yesterday. Shortly after finding out my CV boot torn. I wonder if duct tape will hold as a temporary solution, I dont feel like replacing CV's now.

I had one blow a day before my cousin from down south came to visit. I had promised him shooting and offroading so i wrapped it in plastic and saran wrap, then hit it with zip ties and duct tape. Re-booted the next weekend. All was good

Yes, but afterwards I still had all my limbs, wasn't bleeding to death and didn't have an APB out for me so how bad could it be.

Damn I totally missed that... Been awhile since I've been on here too and haven't seen these responses. I'll be fixing that tomorrow lol. Thanks guys. Belt still looks to be fine but I'm sure in due time if left it would fall apart rather quickly.

Throw is common to chirp, even new ones after just a few thousand miles do it. Annoying no doubt. If its an input bearing Id replace it soon.

how far do you have to press the clutch to get it to go away? Usually with the throwout you barely have to press it and it goes away at idle.

Im running a Champion all aluminum radiator. Its about 220 bucks I think. triple core and all aluminum. I like it, been working great, the cap leaks though so replace that and I wasn't a huge fan of the nutserts that it came with.

So the leaf packs you have now are designed for the overload. I still run an overload on Frankenstein as the leaf packs came with them. Has never hurt my performance wise.

The shackles will also likely make your current packs wear out faster so be ready for that.

I'd just leave the overloads in. Then start planning on getting some custom springs in the next year or two.

the torque spec for those is like 5in/lbs or something super super low. The idea is that you don't tighten down the gasket so it doesn't get squished down where the bolts are and create holes where there aren't bolts.

That said, I didn't use OEM gaskets sadly this last go around and i ended up having to torque a couple bolts really far down to get it to stop dripping oil badly off the back.

So no don't worry, they weren't working themselves loose, they are just loose as is haha

Gotta push the clutch almost all the way in to get it to stop. Not hearing any chirping just a “whirling” noise

Lovely  .... I’m about ready to trade this thing for a ridgeline :anonymous:haha jk I’d never give up my best gen truck now that’s it’s paid for lol.

I’m not too super worried about the noise since it’s been doing it for at least 2-3 years and hasn’t gotten worse or louder, but I don’t want to cause more damage either so I’ll certainly keep diagnosing it.

Nice! Looks super clean. Very low miles too.

Late to the party but whatever:

I had the same "sound" in my wife's Acura Integra - turns out it was one of the four clutch plate springs had finally come undone and was spinning around. Car would shift/drive fine, it was more of a pain in the ass to listen to and created fear incase we were to drive a long distance.

    Did this this weekend:
    1000 measurements before any cuts.

Whoever said full size CB install is a pain in the ass, yep you are right....

    Can I ask why?

Not why's it a pain but why bother with a full size?

Try blue lock tight. I would not tighten them more than what the torque spec is. I'm sure you know this but make sure to tighten the bolts in a star pattern and double check each bolt at least twice for the proper torque spec. Another thing that comes to mind are the washers. I can't remember if they are crush washers or not. If so that may play as small role if you didn't replace them. Other than that :notsure:

Yeah after rolling into camp after dark way too many times and needing to setup, this will make life much easier. Now I can set this up and have plenty of light without needing to rely on the headlamp the entire time. Many uses from better light for cooking, splitting fire wood, and even if we are doing a night recovery/repair. Just in time for the shorter days and longer nights. Waiting on some quick fists to come in to setup it's mount. The way I plan to have it will leave it readily accessible and out of the way.
